So, if the battery dies, and you have a manual....can you push start like anormal 6 speed? if so what needs to be on? i ask because with a start button, how car you 'turn the key and dump the clutch' i tend not to think the car would look for the fob, while it was barley tuning over from dumping the clutchin a parking lot.... any thoughs?
I can't say for sure about a C6. However, my battery died on my C5 and I pushed it and popped the clutch over & over. Didn't work. Either did regular jumpers. You have to have a jolt start!
If the car battery is totally dead, you can not push start it. But if you have enough power to start up the computer, press and hold the bottom accessory switch for ~10 sec and you will go into run mode. Just like turning the ignition key in a keyed ignition to run. Then it will start with a push.
If you are talking about push starting a C6 with a dead battery, then NO, it will not work. The electronics need to be up and running to enable the engine's computers and satisfy the anti-theft systems.
FYI -- For a manual-transmission C6, if you push the start button without the clutch depressed (and the fob within range), it puts all the car's electronics into "run" mode but does not engage the starter -- the equivalent of turning a key-start car to the 'run' position.

Thats what i was looking for, I knew there had to be a way to put car into run mode (like having key on) and then manually turn engine over. Will try next time I drive it.
also thank to the other guy who said you can hold the ACC part of the button and put it into that mode was well.
We have done the dead battery start on my buddies 08 Z as he purchased a Z that was on a lot for 6 months and you know the battery was a turd and we did push start him as the battery was not 100% dead

Got to be careful with your comment/suggestion. There was one guy on here that reported reaching in the window, while at the dealer, and hitting the button to power up the car in run mode and it started and shot across the street! Big crash. Bad clutch switch. Make sure you are at least sitting in the car before hitting the button! And ALWAYS pull up that e-brake handle whenever you stop and get out.
I think we all know that if battery is all the way dead there would be no way to put it into run mode like like a keyed car. but if you got some jucie to run computer it will work. and how to put it into that mode. was what i needed. also you do nto need the starter for push starting it, that the whole reason you would push start the car is to manually turn over the engine.
..he's considering doing a bump start...you know pop the clutch with the car in gear and the ignition on...no starting motor needed, just 9.6 volts for ignition, fuel pump and computers...just like the old daze..days. Sorry (SD) you did an edit faster than i can type

i think the answers is it can work if there is enough juice left. I guess for me I'm lazy as hell and my buddy probably wouldnt push for me but i bet he would jump start my car while he was standing there, just a thot that hasnt been mentioned.
