So I finally got my panels back from the painter, and put them on today. Being that I've never taken apart a Corvette before, I think things went perfect...
I have some before & after pics, but none of the install... Sorry!
I did use all GM parts that I bought from Gene (who's the best by the way).
The trick is to take the wheel wells out first, remove the three bolts from the inside of the valance, then remove the four main bolts behind the tail lights. The first panel took time as I had to figure this thing out, but once I figured out how to get the first quarter panel off, the next one and reassembly was really fast. It would have helped if I had an assistant....
I could probably do it again in less than three hours.
I'll post some before & after pics in the morning.
Thanks to all of you guys, for your support. It was you guys that gave me the knowledge and courage to dismantle my pride & joy.
With this mod, I agree. Of course I'd help to make sure there'd be no scratches, etc. along the way. And I'm sure the guy would appreciate me being there.
How much were you charged for the paint job? Thanks.
I paid about 1k. 400.00 for the V.Y. PPG kit which had an epoxy primer, white base coat, V.Y. Finish, and high quality clear, + reducer, and the rest for body work & labor. I paid a little more than I wanted, but I made a point of telling the painter that quality was of the utmost importance to me.
I'm extremely particular, and I'm an industrial coatings expert, so even the smallest flaw will be caught by my eye in a second. So I guess you pay a bit more to be picky....
