Default Warming up

How long do you warm up your cars before you begin to drive it. Is there a temp that you require the engine to be at before you begin?

Just drive it easy for the first few miles. It's better for your car than letting it sit and warm up.

Start it up and drive. It will also warm up faster when driven than at idle.

No, no warm up before I drive. I just drive slowly for the first couple of minutes. It helps that I live in an area where I have to drive several 30 mph roads before I get to higher speed limit roads.

Thanks for the input so far, why is it better to drive easy at first, specifically?

I wait until the navigation screen is active and I can touch the "I accept" button which is probably around 30 seconds after start up.

Same reasons one would drive any vehicle at "easy" speeds until it's properly warmed up...absent exigent circumstances, of course.

Peace, out.

I usually pull out of the garage and sit in the driveway until the garage door closes completely, I get my seatbelt fastened and everything situated. Usually a minute max. Then I just drive the car easy until the temperature comes up.

Today I let it idle a little longer since it was 7 degrees for a high in Kansas City

I have been letting it idle until the temp reads 90, then drive easy until temp gets to 100. Seems to be a but different.

I let it warm up for about 30 seconds to a minute. I ease out of the garage and wait until the door is completely closed. I don't drive it hard for the first mile or so.

I drive mine right away without an idle warm up but I don't exceed 2500 rpm until the oil temp is 170 - 180 degrees. ---John

Driving the car under light acceleration will get the engine up to nominal operating temps faster than sitting still.
