Hey All;
I have read lots of good things about MGW's short throw shifter. It's a good time for mods so I am ready to order.
Some questions:
1. I don't see any options at their web site but I have heard some talk about % reduction in throws. Is there options on the shifter and what are the considerations in choosing one?
2. The ****'s they offer look nice. Any comments on these or other ***** out there worth looking at?
Thanks all, Jeff

I had purchased one for my 05 when George (owner - great guy) 1st started making the shifter for the Corvette. At the time, I ordered a 35% reduction in shift pattern model ~ seems I've read he has discontinued this model. I think he still offers a 25% reduction. I went with his shift ****... loved the look/feel. I do know that many wanted to retain their stock Corvette shift **** ~ so he offers an adapter so the shifter will accept the stock ****. Excellent shifter and I think you will find it a major improvement over the stock shifter. Give George a call or drop him an email. Good luck!

When they first came out he had a 35% and 25 % reduction in throw. He changed that to a 30%, which most liked. I believe now he also offers a 15% for those that want the bolt action accuracy but not a large reduction in throw. Give him a call, he is very easy to work with..
I talked with him last week. He has a 15% and a 30% reduction in throw. Here is the quote from the email.

most shifters are the 30 percent and ours is easier than others even in that same reduction.

I got an early one with 35%. Went with his round gripper ****. Also bought the stock **** adaptor, but his gripper is excellent. I won't change it back to a stock ****.
The difference btw stock and this is amazing. My 08 was supposed to have an improved shifter. Improved over what, I'm not sure.
You will not be disapointed with it.

I believe mine was the 30% reduction and I love it as well as the shifter ****, definite improvement over stock. The wife griped a little bit about it being stiffer, however I liked the firmness and it has loosened up a little and shes not said to much about it latley.
I've had mine in my C6 for almost a year. I got one of George's first ones late last January. I never would go back. It's turned out to definitely add to the fun of driving a 6 spd. George also provides just about the best support for his products you'll find anywhere.
I do believe it took the notchy feeling out of mine, it was a little stiffer at first, just took a little more effort to move, definitly not sloppy, the shift to me was more pronounced and easier to go into gear with the extra effort, some complain they require considerable more effort to get into gear, but did not seem the case on mine, mine has loosened up a little now and I love the way it shifts (really a lot smoother IMO) can really bang the gears in and did miss 3rd on occasion with the factory shifter, now havnt missed 3rd at all and really throw it thru the gears at times.
The extra shafts are only about $15. If you are not sure about what **** you will use order one of each. Once the install is done you only need to remove the **** and boot to change shafts, about a 15 minute job at most. This is part of the genius of this shifter, and one of the reasons we all are so enamored with it!

Do a search on MGW, there is more there than you will ever want to know regarding likes an dislikes, as well as **** rattle issues you might want to be aware of that many have had to deal with when using the stock ****.
Have not read a bad review, great shifter!

I orignally had the 35% reduction shifter from MGW, but I had a constant rattle problem with the stock **** that I just could not get rid of. I asked George if I could get a new pivot ball that was a bit oversize to see if this would get rid of the problem. George did send me a new pivot ball, but he also sent A COMPLETELY NEW SHIFTER that is the 30% version! What a guy. This took care of my rattle problem. All I did was send him back the old shifter. I have not had a single problem since and just love how great the MGW shifter works. It is amazing just how much better it is over the stock shifter.

The notchiness is ALL in the Tremec transmission. The MGW shifter is a marvel of smooth precision with excellent internal bearings. The slopiness in the stock shifter masks some of the notchiness in the Tremec. I have the first 15% MGW George made, and it is tremendous. Stock **** and zero rattles.
The new issue of CORVETTE Magazine has an article about retrofitting the LS engine into a C4 Corvette. The owner insisted on using the original ZF transmission because it was such a smooth shifter compared to the current notchy Tremec manual trannies.
