Today, I took my 2005 C6 in for a re-flash because of DBS. It was about 68 degrees this afternoon when I left the dealer, so I did not notice anything different about the climate control.
I took the car out for a long drive tonight, and the upper vents were discharging outside temperature air - 42 degrees. The system is set on auto, with the a/c compressor off. The lower vents were discharging warm air.
I keep the temperature between 70 - 72 degrees, and it has been perfect. Now, the system will freeze my face & torso while warming my feet. This is quite aggravating, since the climate control system worked beautifully before the re-flash. It used to provide slightly cooler air from the upper vents, while discharging heat to the lower ones.
Do you guys think that the re-flash (PIC4188E) screwed up my climate control? Now, the system will not discharge any warm air from the upper vents until the temperature is dialed up to 80 - 85 degrees, and then the inside temp of the car is soon too warm. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Never heard of that here before or after the reflash.
Maybe try the battery negative disconnect for 10 minutes, reconnect and let the car reboot. Then see...
Did you manually turn the AC compressor off? I think the system is designed to run with it on, or perhaps I should say the system should makes its own decision about the compressor.
I only disable my compressor for racing, climate control and gas mileage both keep me happy the rest of the time.
Is it also possible that the reflash alters the programming for the AC system?

Yes, I hit the AC button to turn off the compressor. The system has always worked fine like this in the past - until yesterday. With the AC compressor engaged, the air was even colder!
It is possible that the re-flash had something to do with this change, but the dead battery & my actions afterward may have caused it. When I put the charger on the battery, the drivers window would lower a small amount every time the drivers door was opened. The car was outside, so I finally re-indexed the window with the charger hooked up.
I hit the bottom of the ignition switch to place the ignition in accessory mode - in order to index the windows. I do remember hearing a noise behind the dash while accessory mode was engaged. This noise could possibly have been a control door motor for the climate control trying to actuate, but I do not know for sure. Possibly, an actuator or door is stuck, and needs to be re-indexed.
The battery was out of the car for two hours before taking it to the dealership for the re-flash, so disconnecting and reconnecting the batter will probably not have an effect - but I will try it anyway.
The reflash didn't do anything to the HVAC system - totally separate. It's either a little gremlin that a reboot by disconnecting the battery will resolve, or it's a new issue with the HVAC system. Try disconnecting the battery again and checking it. If it's still there, then it will likely be a bad sensor or something. I don't see any bulletins on this specific issue, so good luck.
Can someone explain what DBS means? And if DBS occurs, what electronics are reflashed.
Thanks. Uve only had my C6 for one month now. Still learning.
DBS is 'dreaded battery syndrome'. In reference to '05 MN6 cars that had unexplained sudden dead batteries despite proper shutdown. A variant also affected a few early '06's. The reflash is for the BCM, body control module.
DBS = Dead Battery Syndrome, which is probably dreaded by 2005 MN6 owners.
From a GM communication:
Hello Everyone: I'm sure most of you do not know each other but you are all Corvette enthusiast that I have been communicating with regarding your dead battery syndrome. I just wanted to give everyone an update so you know where we stand. I was off on vacation in November and December but rest assured the project is moving forward.

DBS refers to Dead Battery Syndrome, which is our title for the problem, not GM's. It involves 2 separate problems with C6's. The first is from 2005, at it involves only MN6's. The Body Control Module (BCM), which is a computer that basically runs the car, was not shutting down properly on these cars, resulting in their constant running, which drained the battery quickly. A "reflash" (reprogram) of the computer solved this problem.
A second DBS issue came up in 2006's, and it affected both MN6's and A6's. Again, a programming error in the BCM left it running, and another reflash was needed to fix it. My 2006 A6 had 3 attacks of it before GM released the second reflash.
