For all of those who panicked and turned theirs in for a refund... and are now not able to purchase another one for their current C6... well, not such a smart move in light of GMAC/GMPP rejuvinated financial status. "
No panic and I still cashed in my GMPP. I still think its a SMART move. If you think GM/GMAC is completely out of the woods, think again. It is still possible for some of us to say " No pity on you" less than a year from now.

Duh I still got my 5 year GM Powertrain warranty, so my powertrain is covered just like YOU!

Hahahahaha....since you are laughing at those who sold off their GMPP plans, let me poke some fun at you too! I pay $300 a month for med insurance myself (with a $1000 deductible) so I am saving about $300 a month x 12 months= $3600 a year over YOU! This $3600 savings on my part PER YEAR will not only EASILY pay for any C6 problems for the next 5-10 years, I will also be putting this savings into the bank, unlike you!
Next time, instead of poking fun at others here like a smart aleck, try to do something to help cut the cost and increase the quality of health insurance!!
Hey 191 mph Guy (on a closed course of course)...
I'm not a mechanic, buuuuuut... One complete transmission replaced, one shifter/linkage replaced and a leaky rear axle seal boot doesn't sound minor to me!!!!!! Oh, come to think of it... didn't you also have the rear end/differential chatter issue covered on a TSB??? But hey, I'm just a chick with a C6.... so what do I know????????
Oh yeh, I forgot about all those! Just several more reasons why GM is in so much trouble!!!!!!

wow.. great way to make friends... I chose to not go the GMPP route.. with the 100K powertrain warranty and a mechanical breakdown insurance policy thru Geico which is less expensive, 7 year coverage and more flexible.

What put me over the edge was the fact that my Bose RAdio/CD player quit recently (within the first year) and the diagnosis/labor/parts to replace it was $1600. It was all covered under warranty. I agree with you on the debt issues on GMAC/GMPP, but the $585 seemed like a reasonable gamble to take. How about if we keep in touch in 5 years to see who made the best choice?!?!? Only time will tell on this one...

I'm going to have to agree with Lyn on this one.Its not really powertrain issues I'm worried about its the ELECTRONIC issues that will be big buck items if they go out.So any one that buys the extended warranty for that amount of money did very well.
Hate to give you the bad news, but he's not president yet. He's told you several times that there's only one president at a time. Guess you weren't listening.

I just bought my first Vette, an 06 coupe with 37K miles - went ahead and got the 36 mos/36K miles/$100 deductible GMPP Major Guard. Cost me $2K. Fear of something major going wrong with the electronics was the deciding factor. Only plan to keep it for the 3 yrs covered and then trade up to a newer model.

Maybe you could put me on your health insurance plan... I have a $5000 deductible. I think you just proved that you are a lot younger than I am.... have you reached age 25 yet???

Yeh Lyn, health insurance gets pretty expensive when ya hit 75 years old! But don't worry, the next time you take your C6 to 180mph and start dozing off, you won't feel a thing, although your passenger may be going into cardiac arrest!
I certainly am glad you're happy with your purchase. Your statements, however, are not accurate.
You realize that your GMPP is running concurrently with your factory warranty? That means that until 7/24/2010 you are not receiving any benefit at all from GMPP since the factory warranty bumper-to-bumper is still in effect (assuming you aren't over on the mileage). Further, since there is a 5/100 powertrain warranty, your GMPP isn't going to add anything to that portion of the factory warranty until the 5/100 has run its course as well. So, you paid GMPP for coverage that won't even be used but will continue to expire until your factory coverages drop off.
Add to that the fact that you cannot modify your car or drive it as it was intended to be driven, and GMPP is hardly a "good deal."
One other thing, GMAC, which owns GMPP, isn't "rejuvenated" as you'd like to portray. They've taken on tons of new debt which they cannot afford. They'll be back in trouble in a few months.

He sure as Hell hasn't acted like there is
And what's with this arrogant, elitist, snake oil salesman Office of the President Elect crap?
I bought my five year extension a week before the factory warranty expired on my 05. I now have five additional years. I paid less than twice what the op paid. Of corse I bought it from Dennis.

I paid a little over $2000 for an extended 3 years of "bumper to bumper" warranty coverage for my 08 that I bought last month. It came with three years, so now I have 6 years and 72000 miles. At first I refused the coverage. I made an out the door offer on the car and when the salesman went to get approval, I stopped to think....what the hey!! everytime I take my Cadallac SLS or Thunderbird DD's in for service, just about every repair seems to cost $1000. With all the bells and whistles on the C6, somewhere within the three to six year time frame, I'm probably going to be seeing several $1000 dollar repair bills. When th salesman returned I had him add the extended warranty back in. (My out the door offer was countered by a $512 upper and I accepted)

The in-service date for my 07 was 10/6/06. I contacted Dennis and bought the 84 month plan for a very reasonable price on 9/26/07. It would have been a lot more expensive if I waited until after the car was more than 12 months old and considered to be used as opposed to new.
The plan will carry me until 9/26/14, or the 2015 model year. This works out very well for me persoonally since my plan is to keep my 07 until the second or third year of the C7. It also means that I'll have what is essentially an 8 year bumper to bumper warranty on the car for what works out to be pennies a day. Not a bad deal or a whole lot of money considering what I paid for my pretty well loaded Vert in the first place.
Like my Term Life Insurance, I hope I never have to use it and GMPP makes out on the deal, but if I do have to use it I'm confident that I'll come out on the winning end.
There is no single wrong or right answer for everyone or every siituation. I almost never take extended warranty plans on the things I buy, but when it seems to make sense to me and the price is right I make an exception.
