Default TOMTOM Nav help

I received a TOMTOM ONE 130 navigation unit as a gift and was wondering where to install it in my 06 vert. Also do I hook it to my cig lighter, the accessory outlet or somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Check this link out. They make a mount for the Tom Tom and specifically for the Vette. I had one in my previous car and loved it. I also got a TomTom 125 for Christmas and will be buying one of these mounts for my '07.

Hope this helps.

Happy New Year!!

I recently got a portable navigation system too but I haven't used it yet in the Vette - but I plan to shortly. Using the suction cup mount, I would mount it on the windsheild, below the rearview mirror and slightly to the left- close to the dashboard. That is where I mount it in my other vehicle. It's easy to see because your eyes look to the right just a little so they almost stay constantly on the road.

Per LMB 4 ME

The window and dash GPS mounts look really cheezy. Besides people are now looking for suction cup marks on the windshield. They smash your window looking for GPS or radar detectors.

Take a cap from a spray paint can (I used flat black to match the interior) and cut it about 1/4 inch shorter using a box cutter. This way you can slide the cup holder lid closed. Attach the suction cup mount to the lid (perfect fit!) and place it in either of the cup holders. It fits very snug, you can press the touch screen and it wont move. (if you want a tighter fit wrap the cap with black electrical tape)
Not only does the "Scotty Mount" look great it works great too! Easily removes or unsuction the cup and leave the cap in the cup holder.

FLAT BLACK SPRAY PAINT CAP WRAPPED WITH TAPE (more snug fit) AND SUCTION CUP MOUNT ADHEARED

TRIM ABOUT 1/4 INCH SO THE CUP HOLDER DOOR CLOSES WHEN NOT IN USE

"SCOTTY MOUNT" LOOKS GREAT AND DOESNT MOVE!

TURN TOWARDS YOU OR THE PASSENGER

This Idea looks like it will work for me.
Thank you for the link and thanks to all for their input.
Happy New years to all.

Whatever mounting you decide to use, just remember the last thing you want while taking evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident is a little half pound brick flying around the cabin.

Thank you for that wise suggestion! And that goes for some of the other half-pound (and more) potential "flying projectiles" we sometimes have in our cars.

Glad it worked well for you. This was the exact thread that showed me what to use for my Garmin. I love this site. The guys here have great ideas and really want to help. The credit goes to them, i just repost what they have researched already. i have found the "search" to be invaluable to me here on this site. Enjoy your new GPS.
