Default Going to be a tough 2009

Found out on December 9 that I have Prostate cancer. Have to meet with the doctors next week to start a 'game plan' and combat this mess. Could very well be Agent Orange related since I spent a year on the ground in Vietnam in 1967. All I want to do is be able to ride my motorcycle and drive the C6 again by spring. Oh yea, I have plenty of 'friends' that are willing to keep the C6 'exercised' while I'm down. Might have to do a little screening there. I'll surely be on the forum almost daily during recovery time.

No worries brother, you will be riding and driving in no time. My brother in law had same thing, get the right treatment and all will be ok.

Sorry to hear, man. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. In the mean time, get the hell off the computer and row those gears!

Cheesy as it sounds, I've come to the conclusion that clutching and shifting at speed is the most favorite past time I've ever held. I'm in the service, have been to the desert a few times, and will be back in Iraq again in a week and a half. I sometimes think realistically about what I'd do if I lost my shifting hand/arm in combat... I'd move back to the UK for good where the cars are right hand drive so I could shift with the left. An auto is out of the question.

Don't know why I decided to ramble on about that. I guess just because I'm hoping you can get out and enjoy riding and driving for a few good sessions before you've got to slow it down, temporarily.

Best of luck, man.

I wish you the best of luck with your treatment. They have great success treating prostate cancer these days. I have several friends and relatives who have come through with flying colors and have been cancer-free for years. The same will be true for you, I am sure. Keep positive thoughts. Keep us posted on your progress. The diagnosis of cancer is always scary but with today's treatments, the prognosis is very positive.

Default feel strong

I believe you can overcome this. Many people can, including my brother in SC last year. Make getting well again your job and please return to the Corvette world ready to go again.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2001. I elected to go with the external beam radiation combined with hormone therapy. For me, it was the correct decision, as my PSA has never been over 1.0 since. They have made many strides forward with new and improved treatments since I went through my ordeal. You should come out with positive results. The main thing is to keep a positive attitude.

Don't worry bout this to much my friend. Very cureable when found while still in the capsule. I'd go for surgery and save radiation for a later date if necessary. Explore all options and get second opinions. I have serveral friends who did seed therapy and are very happy with results. Yep I had this cancer in 2000, had surgery and never looked back.
Hang in there and good luck

Default Count me in, Gman...

I'll be praying for a total recovery for you.

Hopefully they caught it early. My 80yo Father had it 4 years ago whereas they caught it early. Seeds were implanted and w/in a year his PSA was registering .1.

Keep the faith.

Dang - bad luck, Gary. Take heart, I have no less than a half dozen friends that successfully battled the C. My best friend has a particularly aggressive version and he is still ahead of the game. Prayers are with you.
