Default LED replacements

I have done a search to find a vendor that sells the LED map light and license plate replacements. But everything i find is either a vendor that is out of stock or it was a group buy that is no longer valid.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

just wanted to say that I recently replaced all my interior lighting and license plate bulbs with LEDs from Corvette Mods.

It is awesome. I smile everytime I get in the car at night. It looks so cool in the whitish blue lighting and seems much brighter to me.

one of the better mods I have done for the money.

OK, I did the map lights, foot well, and license lights from a "reputable" company that was recommended by folks on this forum. I think, sorry old memory, that it was from a CF vendor. I had flickering lights from day one and some are now very dim. Burning out? I have no idea. But I will tell you that the wires on these bulbs are very thin and just don't make contact 100% of the time. I now have some super white bulbs, not LED, on the way to replace these POOR LED bulbs. Please take care because it seems all are not good. SOME SUCK and you waste your money.

Oh, this is not good news. I been thinking about doing the tail lights. Is there one vendor better than another?

Mine also flicker, the ones I installed for my rear license plate; when I removed them I found the problem, there is one main bulb in the middle surrounded by smaller ones on the outside. The problem is that the outside ones were burning out and therefore flickered.

They did not last very long at all, even some of the interior ones did not last. I expected maybe the exterior ones would burn out sooner because of vibration but I guess it doesn't matter. It was particularly upsetting that the outside ones flickered so much, it's an excuse to get pulled over while driving at night.

When I contacted the vendor they told me to remove them and reseat them, that's when I found that all the 'bulbs' weren't lighting. They offered to replace them, but of course I would have to pay for them, something I refused after so little use.

At some point I will try other vendors, for now I will reinstall my regular dim yellow lights for the license plate; this is particularly upsetting because I really love the look of the LED's.. but not at the cost of the inconvenience of getting pulled over.

Maybe they do not chime in cause they know of the problem and are unable to correct the issue as of yet.

Glad I read this thread. I too was thinking of swapping out my interior and exterior bulbs for the LED's. Guess I'll wait and watch this thread... Thanks.

I have used the Super Whites before for back up and license plate and had good luck. But not with a Vette. Anyone with experience with these on Vettes?

I loved the Super Whites on back up lights. They really lit up behind you for backing in pitch black or very little light situations. Got the bulbs at Auto Zone and were not that expensive and lasted until I sold the car, a good 8-12 months.

I talked to the vendor that I bought them from (via email ) and felt like there was NO customer support. He started by calling me Bub or Bud, as in "hey Bud" what do you expect? The bulbs have very, very thin wires so even making contact with the fixture is a BUNCH of re-seating until they do make contact. Then the flickering and some are so dim that they are not usable. I have a small pile of super whites coming and I hope they are better than the yellow-ish stock bulbs.

Very disappointed as i was looking forward to this mod. Like others, i will wait to see what the vendors have to say, if anything, before buying.

I hope this thread gets the attention of the vendors and helps out those of you who have already spent the money.

Can you comment on if they are brighter than one I might already have? I do not know much about the LED's but I wish they were brighter. I want the look of the LEXUS license plate lights.

joe, i can tell you that i had the led's in the C6 and changed them to the xenon 194's. they seem brighter to me - very similar to LEX. but, i have the led's in my CTS and they look LEX also. alot has to do with the diffuser and the paint color i believe. the leds are brighter in the map light than the xenon's in the C6 - FWIW. there are many places that you can buy either type VERY, VERY reasonably off forum.
