looking for some input about an idea. You have seen the threads about the shifter mod, the one where you make the right paddle upshift. Its a fantastic mod (thxs for all who have come up with it and noted the work) it gives you more of an F1 type shifting (right paddle upshifts left paddle down shifts) The only problem is it makes the thumb "+" shift part kind of confusing? One upshifts and the other then downshifts.
I took mine apart again tonight and would love to get rid of the thumb part all together. Just have the paddles and thats it. Simple and more F1 like. Dont know if a vendor has this? (i know WCC has the modded ones) i may chop mine off, sand the part smooth and repaint. Your thots, (insert flame suit on here) paul
No flame suit needed IMO. Everyone likes it a certain way. Personally I'm use to the Corvette's OEM style. Thumbs mean upshift, fingers downshift.
good take, i wonder if I only had the paddles if a guy would loose track of which is which while cornering hard? maybe thats why they added the thumbs????
I agree with most here, I love the stock set up, it enables you to use one hand, and either hand at that. I prefer stock over F1 style.
My 2 cents, although with inflation its probably worth $1 now..... David
If you change it the way you describe, what would you do to downshift on a hard left turn if your left paddle was the downshift paddle? The paddle will be down between your legs. I wouldn't want to be a contortionist while driving!

Why would you be downshifting in the turn. Any race school/driver will tell you, all of your shifts should be done before turning in.
, as this allows me to drive with one hand at times, after using the paddles 95% of the time I am used to and appreciate the OEM shifting.
I thought about changing it like Hanny is doing, but then I drove in paddle mode more, and for me, the ambidextrous ability became more valuable. Just IMO.

True...but... upshifting out of the turn would present the same problem.
From what I have been told, this is why GM put up and down on each side of the wheel.

you could be right about that,,,that makes more sense from a stock perspective to.
I already have it set up where the paddles do what i want (right up, left downshifts) a month ago and i like it so much that way i just dont even use the thumbs. So thats really the only reason for the post. It might hurt resale but i dont really care about that,,,he** i may never sell the car. Thxs for all the input, the perspectives are always appreciated. paul
