Batterey Tender Issues
I have attached a battery tender to my c6. Is it ok to bring the hood down and cover the car with it attached. Also, how long will the engine compartment light stay on? Is it on a timer?
Thanks for any info

The light should go off when you lay the hood flat, it doesn't need to be closed fully and even if it doesn't shut off the car will shut the light off after 20 minutes I believe. My tender is hooked up and the hood is closed but not latched and the car has a cover on it, no problems.
My 08 has no engine hood light. It's been on a tender for months, sitting. The light will go out anyway when you close the hood far enough down.Mine's been with the hood down and resting without fully closing, with the tender hooked up.
Closing the hood and covering the car isn't an issue - mines stored that way right now. As for the light, I would think that it would go out, but I've got an '07 that doesn't have the under hood light, so that I can't really answer that one.
The hood light is on a timer and goes out in 20 minutes, but if it makes you more comfortable you can always remove the bulb. As far as bringing the hood down sure you can, just don't' latch it and crush the cord... A very simple alternative is to hook your battery tender up with an adapter ( about 7 bucks) through the cigarette lighter. Much faster to undo when you want to take the car out.

Battery tender on floor under car - wires that connect to battery pulled up next to engine block and connected to battery. Hood closed, cover on, no battery tender wiring rubbing against paint anywhere. Simple.
I have a battery tender clipped on the terminals with the AC cord dangling down between the exhaust manifold and the chassis. The hood is closed but not latched and the car is covered in the garage. I would recommend placing the unit away from the battery-towards the front of the engine compartment due to the unlikely possiblility of escaping hydrogen gas and electrical issues within the unit.
FYI, follow the light wire from the hood straight down. Seperate the the harness by releasing the clip. I keep my hood light disconnected all the time. If and when I need it, it takes two seconds to reconnect.

i've been using the battery tender plus for years with no problems.. and it is a good idea to leave your hood either open or closed and not latched as a reminder that you have the tender hooked up.. you sure don't wanna back out with it still hooked up..

Same here...
