Would appreciate any comments from owners who have purchased the GM windscreen for your convertible. I bought one for my '05 (aftermarket - with a lexan insert - not mesh like the GM] and it worked OK. Let me know!
I agree with the others. It probably cuts out about half the turbulence. I would buy it again. I don't have enough hair to worry about it blowing around, but it makes the wife very happy.
Very happy with my GM windscreen except for the screw on the passenger side that secures that side's mounting bracket to the inside of the car. Keeps coming out so the screen moves a bit at speed. Not sure if something was overtorqued and stripped or what. Since I so infrequently use the screen (only for cold weather top down motoring) it is not often something I think of.
The look is great and the screen very light and easy to handle...I would buy it again!
I have the GM windscreen and even though I don't use it very often I think it's a good thing to have.
It reduces air flow back into the cabin from behind and it makes your Vette look nice.
The big advantage with the GM windscreen compared to the other one is that the GM model has a kill switch that prevents the accidental raising of your roof when it's still in place.

I'm amazed how often I try to do that!
That's because you OUGHT to be able to do that. What's the point of having a power top if you still have to get out of the car to uninstall the screen to raise the top? Grrrr.
The screen does work, though. My wife uses it on her vert all the time and it definitely improves the turbulence factor.

I agree about the mounting screw; Its a self tapping screw that does not have enough meat (metal) to get a good bite on. Mine is loose on the drivers side. One of these days I will silicone or epoxy it in place.
Also, my wife doe not think it makes much difference; just makes the wind come from a different direction. I would spend my money next time (if there is a next time) on a good tune.
Raise your windows only 2-3 inches and you will get a wind and turbulence reduction similar to the screen....except it doesn't cost you anything. Experiment with the exact height for the reduction level you want.
I have the windscreen - but really only use it when the wife is with me.
If I am alone I might put the windows up if over 70MPH - that seems to be enough for me. Probably 90% of my driving is solo.
Raising the windows a few inches helps, raising the windows all the way helps more.
But nothing comes even close to the windscreen and windows all the way up at the same time. This is sufficient for my wife's long hair to not whip around and hit her in the face. This is also the only way she will ride with the top down on the highway. She actually keeps a hairbrush and pony tail holder in the glove box.
Windows up/windscreen up will also help conversation and radio volume immensely.
As for the cost - yes it is expensive. The "Vette Net" is a little cheaper, and a little smaller in size. I think it also comes in colors.
I have the GM version. Mine was also free - negotiated as part of the deal.
