I'm a member of several forums, "ThirdGen.org" and "Bimmerfest" to name a couple (having been a Camaro owner for 19 years, and a BMW driver for the past 25 years). Then I decided to trade my 2008
5 series BMW for a 2009 Corvette and that's when I was introduce to this forum. Here is what I notice, Corvette owners seem to bash each other more than anything I have ever seen. Example: "My LS3 is better that your LS2",, My dual exhaust is louder that yours and I have a button here I push to prove it ; My Corvette is better that yours because I order it with the stiffer suspension, I even bought a badge that proves it and got my own Z51 club to back me up. Maybe BMW owner know what they got and don't need to show it, and Third Gen Camaro owner just love our out dated cars so much we don't have time for all the mombo jumbo.
OK , I am now a Corvette owner and love my C6 Corvette with its 5 wheels, 4 on the ground and one in my hand and it's just tiring to heard on and on about same bashing over and over. Discussion is one thing, but sometimes it gets ridiculous. But hey, it's just my opinion, as I said, I'm new to the Corvette comunity and it's always nice to have a place to hear the good and the bad of our cars but lets just get along..
Welcome to the Forum. My guess is a Corvette owner has quite a bit of pride in his car. After all it is a very serious car. Many BMW owners park and drive. Most owners don't even wash their own car's. It's a total different car and therefore a different owner.
We may bash here and there. And often it is funny. I will tell you one thing about this forum. You will learn a lot.
LOTS of tongue in cheek here - very few cases of true malice. Don't read too much into it. I'm a former BMW forum member - saw lots of the same over there (in fact maybe a little worse between the TRUE enthusiasts / knowledgeable individuals and the poseurs).

Visit roadfly.org and listen to the e60 owners and the e39 owners yack at one another!
Other than that - welcome to the world of Corvettes! Enjoy the ride!
Some truth to what you say and have observed, but for the most part I have found the MAJORITY of forum members just to be passionate owners who like to engage in some spirited debate with really no malice intended.
I ussually skip over the haters and enjoy the next post. (altho i have fallin into an argument or 2) Who knows maybe they were dropped as a child, or are lonely or drunk or something. its everywhere unfortunetly. We live in the best country in the best era of all time. We all have more then we need (at least us corvette owners do) and i see no reason for anyone to hate. (kumbaya is ringing in my ears, lol)
But its out there no matter where you go. Having said that if you are looking for info you cannot find anywhere in the world from real time real world people this is the place. find a few guys you connect with idea wise and sit back and enjoy.
there is alot of for sale threads and threads like "where do i fill mt tires up at" but thats all part of it to. You got rid of the bimmer for a vette? Good for you, i would have an M5 and the vette if the garage was bigger. The M5 has 520 horse and tech. that is killer. enjoy, paul

As you may note by my user name, I used to drive BMW's, and loved them BTW. I have since been back to some of the BMW forums I used to frequent and I disagree somewhat with you. But I don't think its just a case of BMW vs Corvette driver differences. I really think that what you are seeing is becoming more evident on just about every forum I frequent. Whether it be cars, electronics, computer, whatever. Yes some are less vocal than others but they are ALL starting to see more of the "type first before engaging brain syndrome". There is something about the anonymity of the internet that has people forgetting their manners and upbringing. In fact, some will say that as a member with only 14 posts, you might be doing a little of the same. I don't agree with that but don't be surprised if someone brings it up. And that is an example of what is happening, I only do that to make my point.
I am slowly learning to ignore the slander, high handed, my ^%@$%& is better than your whatever posts. Occasionally I may report a post but usually I just ignore them. It's a learned trait.
I do agree that I wish we could all just get along but unfortunately I don't think the human beast can do that.
Whatever you do though, don't let the malice, or whatever you want to call it, drive you from the forum. I have learned more here than I could have ever hoped to from many different folks. If you let your skin thicken up a little, you will be able to see the vast knowledge that does reside here.
i must agree that as a member of forums like AR15.com among others, I always have noticed a lot of what you mention here on the CF. At first i just accepted it as part of this group; a self perpetuating behavior which would always be around. Then I started to pay closer attention and realized that the truly malicious stuff comes from a handful of people. For the most part, people just say what they think and move along. Try and observe where the negatives are coming from and you'll find a pattern. Anyways, enjoy the torque
Most here are passionate about their Corvettes, regardless of model or options. On the other hand, some appear to be downright envious of others, and the banter may be a little more serious. But, in the end we all respect each other as Corvette people...
Now, PR&C on the other hand...well, now that's personal...
Welcome to Corvette Heaven. I love the Gen III F Body's. My first new car was an '86 IROC-Z. My second new car was a '91 Z-28 that I ordered. My wife had an '89 RS w/ the 305 TBI that we drove the crap out of for 11 years and 135K miles w/o any major issues.
On the OT - I have been a member here for 9 years. When our membership here was 1/4 of what it is now, it was much friendlier (is that a word?) . I am also a member of a couple of smaller boards (NastyZ28.com, Glock board, kel tec board, GM truck board). I can tell you that without a doubt the lack of civility is directly proportional to the size of the board and has nothing to do with the type of car or subject matter of the bulletin board. With a larger membership comes anonimity which leads to brazen behavior by some (cowards).
Yet the good folks here still outnumber the jaggoffs by a large margin. There's plenty of good times to be had here.

I think you're reading way to much into these threads. The whole point is that new guys will come on at least once a week and say "I'm buying a Corvette which is better F55 or Z51" Which will lead to the same tired argument about which is better when really neither is better they both serve different individual needs.
At any rate the parody threads are just in good fun, I don't think anyone actually cares that much.
PS. LS3 Z51 MN6 NPP QX1 41U is the most besterest Corvette ever made and anyone who disagrees is stupid

True. But on AR15.com we have the never ending "Colt is the real thing" versus all comers!

Since time is a premium for me, I am a member of one forum and its all about the car I love. I think most folks on here get along pretty good, actually.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
