All of my oil analysis results have shown that the engine is showing very low wear, and it has also shown the oil to still be in good shape at the end of the interval too. I now have 102k on my C5 and it still runs beautifully. I fully expect this engine to last well beyond the 250k mark before I even need to think about rebuilding it. So what benefit would I get by changing my oil twice as often as the DIC is telling me to do? Answer:no benefit.
I agree, my last two work vans manage to get over 350000km before they got sold just by fallowing the schedule in the owners manual. Changing much too often only make the oil companies richer. My c6 will get changed when i have about 20% life left unless some extreme condition happen.

Peace of mind is well worth it.
Oil appearance means nothing.
If you really want peace of mind.
Send some of that early changed "dirty" oil to get lab analyzed.
You will be surprised that "dirty" appearing oil is doing just as well a job as the the day you changed it.

This issue if true can potentially cost GM big in longterm warranty claims.

Just a thought.
gee pretty tough to figure out...they give GM the oil amd probably a few extra $$$ in exchange for slapping the MOBIL 1 on the filler cap.

GM doesn't have resources for anything....they're paying $3 billion in interest a year alone!

Every 3000-5000 miles is playing it safe. And with Mobil 1 one nice thing is you do nt have to worry about it as you would petroleum based oil.
I change it every 4000, never more than 5000. That's at about 50% - 55% on the DIC for me. I agree with everyone who said "oil is cheap, engines are expensive" or the equivalent.

Do you know this for a fact? I wouldn't expect they get the oil for free. A deal maybe, in return for exclusivity, but not free.

As for resources I meant enginners and other SME's that would be able to confirm the allegations. I am sure they have that available.

Something else to think on. While I am not a liberal, Greenpeace, tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination, I do believe we need to act a tiny bit more responsibly than we have in the past. Why waste a resource if it's not necessary. Gas was relatively cheap so we built gas hungry behemoths and what happened it almost went to $5 a gallon.

We can't continue to consume for consumptions sake anymore. Oils is cheap is not a good philosophy. Recent history has taught us that.

Over changing the oil is not going to save your engine from a terrible fate that someone else who changed as required will suffer.

This is pure emotions. There is nothing factual whatsoever to back up the oil is cheap argument.

Air is cheap too, better change that tire air too regularly.
