Default Driveway Advice

Hey guys,

I'm fed up with my entry curb on my driveway.... no matter the angle the height difference is too great and I always scrape the bottom/ bend the plastic piece on the car and my wife scrapes her car also (300C SRT-8).

Anyone use this product:
www.bridjit.com

It costs $300 and IMO a little expensive for some recycled rubber.... any other products you guys are using?

Thanks!

I too would be curious to hear what people think. I scrape ugly everytime I back out of my driveway. I know the plastic guards are easily replacable but it still bothers me.

Would work but for the cost of the ramp, you could change the air dam 3 times.

Yeah, I know.... but I'm about to get some new rims and drop the car.... so my current problems are at regular ride height. Lowered, my front clip would probably be scraping on concrete....

Do you have a link? Or any experience with it?

Edit, I found it on their website. The cost is the same and I think it is the same exact product.

I use 3/8 steel plate. it doesn't move. painted both sides. farily cheap at surplus steel yard. i went with 3/8 because my f250 would bend 1/4. I think 1/4 would work for a short span.

No experience with it, but I've noticed that not all areas have the same type of curbs. Some dip down like the one in that add, but that is not the shape of our local driveways. You need to make sure the shape of the product matches your drive. Could be a different design.

Is there any possibility of getting a bag or quikrete, and and hand float, or having someone reshape the concrete or transition point?

That is a possibility, but my concern is with my HOA... I'm sure they will give me crap about it. Even if it was approved, it might cost just as much as the brijit product.

I guess I'm just impatient...lol I could order the brijit and have it here by the weekend....just in time to take the car out....

Anyone else have any solutions?

Our curbs might not be the same, but it sounds like our HOA's are no different.

I'm going to check with Griots Garage to see what they charge for shipping...

I'll post up with anything I find from my local forum...

Edit, Griots wants $70 for shipping and it takes 2-3 weeks....

I think I'm gonna be a little more creative before dropping $400.

Default May not work

It appears the ramp is designed to stop the "bump" when you hit your drive. It may not prevent your air dam hitting the drive.
Back your car out on the street and see where the air dam is hitting. If it touches the drive with your car wheels at street level and the air dam over the drive, filling in the radius of the curb won't prevent that.
I would inquire with the Mfg about this before I considered it.

You may just have to live with the scraping like the rest of us.

It might not be the best looking thing, but a piece of 2x4 is only a couple of bucks. Heck, most people have a couple of pieces in the garage. You can get fancy if you want and paint it black or the same color as the concrete.
Why spend $300 just so you can run over it. For $300 I could put a brand new piece of wood down every day.

At least you aren't this guy.

Just go slow. The air damn not very expensive and a good warning sign not to scrape the bottom of the car.

A couple of pieces of wood work great, they are cheap so when someone takes them it doesn't matter. Plus you can chase your kids around the front yard with the 2x4's when they annoy you.

I would try the plastic decking first.

I understand what you are saying, but the concrete grading from the asphalt to the driveway is like a big tire chuck and this will definately help with the scraping.... hard to describe without a diagram. The crazy thing is my driveway is straight and I don't understand why they didn't put a more gradual grade??? I'll try to get some pictures up....

A piece of 1x or 2x4 would help, but I think that would just look awful....

I agree.... that is just ridiculous...LOL! Who wold buy a house with a driveway like that.....

You mean Trex? I actually have some of that left over from my deck.... I'd have to get creative with cutting it since I live in a cul de sac and the driveway is slightly curved. My biggest issue with using anything that light is that it is going to move constantly whenever you run over it....

I have the Brijit product and like it a lot. Yes it was on the expensive side, but I think it works great. Customer service was good too.

The individual pieces can be linked together with bolted connections on the under side to form one continuous unit. I put it away in the winter so the snow plows do not damage it. Of course I'm not driving the Corvette then anyway.

With this unit in place, I just drive in and back out straight and there's no scraping and no body flexing.

Yes, a few new air dams would probably be less expensive, but I just plain did not want to scrape at all.

I would probably not leave the unit in place if I lived in a sketchy area. Although the 4 piece, 16' assembly weighs about 180lbs, a few guys could probably carry it off if they wanted to.
