magnetic drain plug
I have a 2006 A6, does anyone know whether I have a magnetic drain plug? If not, can someone tell me where to purchase one? Thanks

My 06 A6 did not come with one. I did buy one from my dealer about 1 1/2 years ago. I understand they are hard to find now. Hopefully someone can tell you where to get one.

MAGDANA offers the strongest magnetic drain plug out there. Called the Dimple, it outperforms any other.
Check out the website.

I purchased two of the magnetic drain plugs for my Z06 from Ken Fichtner Chevrolet, a forum sponsor. They are aftermarket but look like the original but with the magnet installed.

And what about those 3/4 inch steel plates they use to cover a hole! I'd hate to be driving behind that Vette.

I bought one shortly after taking delivery of the car. Purchased at dealer for $3.25.
No manhole cover issues (yet).

OK, I've held off comment long enough
Yes, the Dimple is the strongest but we are going to launch a new "H" version for the larger thread diameters. Nearly three times as strong! The end result is oil circulation in the pan while the engine is not running.
There are other new products being introduced on March 13th. Watch for them.

The iron particles in the oil (micron size) are drawn to the magnet. This field attraction will pull oil with the particles. With a larger magnet the pull is greater and will cause circulation over a larger area.
I am in the process of doing a video to show the effect. Watch for the posting.
