Press the hatch/trunk release button located on the
rear of the hatch/trunk lid above the license plate,
as long as you have your transmitter with you.
Never knew the button existed until I read a post about someone having some issues with the button... A few others responded the same.. Had the car a year 1.5 years ... I use it often now..

Just more options on opening your trunk. Some don't want to reach in their pocket to take fob out to push button when they can just push the trunk relase as noted.

When I'm doing anything in the car, the fob is in my pocket and stays there. Same reason I have the autolock option set up for the car. Sometimes my hands are full when I get into or out of the car.
I was loading my flamethrower when I clicked on this link thinking you meant the interior hatch pop button. But then... (as sad as it is) I never knew about the outside button. Thanks OP.
