It seems that lighting conditions have a huge impact on what a car looks like at the time. I know it was certainly true with my Mag Red C5 and Monterey Red C6. I actually had both in the garage at the same time for awhile and was amazed at how similar they were at times while being totally different at other times, mostly dependent on the amount of sunlight or shade available.
I, too, think Torch Red is more orange than I would like, but then I tend to like darker reds.

I had Monterey Red-2006 when GM came with Crystal Red in 08 I had to have it! I have owned TR before on my C4 and C5 great color but I am not into flat paints anymore...

Torch Red was a great color on the C5's, as was Millenium Yellow, but the Victory Red and Velocity Yellow are both improvements over the C5 colors.I have owned both colors of yellows, and have seen the C6 Torch Red at the museum and my brother has the Victory Red so I can assure you I know what I'm talking about.Torch Red looks out of place on the C6 and does not look better than the current Victory Red.
