Default Museum Called!

My car is scheduled to hit "trim" on February 26, however the plant has announced they will not run any tours that last week of February.

Funny thing is my car is not scheduled to roll off the line until March 5th? Previously I had been told with the line slow down of 11 per hour it would take two full days to built my car. Now it requires 6 days?

I have to make a decision by Monday as to whether I want to cancel my plant tour, or participate in some or all of it. Damn! Can you imagine spending 4 days straight in the plant watching your car slowly get assembled?

What to do, what to do...

Dang, I guess if you have the time. I couldn't do that though. Good luck on your decision.

Just think of how well you could get to know all the folks on the line.

Tough call though, but since the 26th is a Thursday and the tours are only not available for the first week, then you'll be missing out on the first two days. I'd call the museum and see if they can tell you how far down the line a Vette gets in two days at the current line speed.

Usually the tour is scheduled for the day the car hits "marriage", which I believe is quite some time after it hits trim. From marriage to EOL used to be all in one day if the car hit marriage early and there were no stoppages, but two days was not uncommon. Mine took two days, and over a weekend to boot. I could also believe that if the line speed will be changed at startup this time that they expect a lot of stoppages the first week as they work the kinks out of the new line configuration. I'd call Lori back and get clarification on when marriage is scheduled.

Well you see I've purchased the Corvette photo album in addition to the plant tour. That means I'm allowed to start my tour at "Trim" vs "Marriage" point in the line. Problem is as already noted my car is scheduled to start trim on the 26th. I'm thinking I'll try to make it the last two days of the build (4th & 5th). That way I'll get to see EOL and possibly get to start it myself.
