Default Have an emissions question.

I am thinking about buying a new 08. It is an Ohio car with a FE9 emissions code. I live in PA which I am told requires a NE1 code. Can I get this car emissions inspected in PA or do I have to change something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

All Corvettes are built to exactly the same emissions specifications. They slap a different sticker on a car at the factory depending on where it is to be sold. The sticker is the ONLY difference. Unfortunately, state lawmakers don't understand this, so license the car in Ohio, then transfer the title to Pennsylvania as a used car. For some reason, that satisfies the bureaucrats.

Shopdog has it spot on, as sad as the laws are regarding emissions. All Corvettes are 50 state legal regarding federal emissions. The NE1 New England region cars all have a sticker stating they are NE1 cars and meet California emissions. If you lived in California it would be worse without the California emissions decal. In Pa you have a slightly easier time bringing it in as a used car than you would have in Ca. There are no physical changes required to the car. They are all made the same way.

If I license the car in Ohio and then transfer the title to Pa would I have to pay the sales tax twice?

Check with a dealer in PA. I would guess that if the car is California compliant it will be allowed in any of the other 49 states.

I would also guess that the car is on a state list of approved vehicles.
