I received a questionnaire today from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) looking into “alleged” braking issues for certain 2005 & 2006 Corvettes. They are asking about braking problems, Stabiltrak, and DIC errors. Did anyone else receive this? Have you heard of these issues? I purchased my ’05 in the fall, so I don’t have many miles on it yet (I’m in Ohio) nor have I had problems that I know of.

No I haven't. First I've heard of this. Bought my 05 in April 05.
But then again, not worried because I've since changed out my rotors and pads. Hope they're not referring to other parts of the braking system
could be kinda scary

I have not recieved any questionnaire concerning anything on my 05.
The car has preformed flawlessly since new.
It would be interestering to know why they'er asking.

I've owned my '05 since Dec. '04 and not heard of any brake issues nor have I received the letter. The OP and one respondent are both from Ohio, so I wonder if that is the basis for some common thread for the questionaire? Some kind of class action litigation or something pending based on claims filed within the state? It will be interesting to monitor this in the next several days to see what prompted the contact. I would think owners would have heard from GM first if there was a potential safety issue like usual recall situations.

I needed to have the antilock break module replaced the first year I had my 06. It was over a grand but obviously all covered by warranty. The speed was limited to 55 until it was fixed which I did immediately. Not sure if that has any bearing on this one. Brakes have been fine and haven't received any letter... yet............

I have the Z51 package. I wonder if that makes a difference? It seems like it is a pre-recall investigation. It is interesting though that the testing center is here in Ohio. Maybe this is why we received the questionnaire in the mail first.

I seem to remember that there was a recall on early 05's because of a brake line that was not secured properly, or something like that.

I formally made a complaint with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING and if this has happened to anyone you will agree it is most deffinatly a saftey issue, your car seems to be possed, the brakes seem to lock up while you are driving totally helpless feeling, the problem was the steering wheel positionig switch,I made a copy of the service order and sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety administration, even though there was a TSB on this problem the dealer thought I was talking out my azz, they also didnt know about the squeeling rear brakes(tsb) to find out what concerns or complaints you might try National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration website,if you are unable to find any info on the cf you might want to try NHTSA
