Default Airbag Warning Light

I am having Sparco Evo seats installed in my 2007 Z06. I was informed that since the side airbags are part of the factory seats that are being removed, the airbag warning light would remain illuminated.
Questions:
1) Do the front airbags remain operational if the sensors are transferred to the new seats; and,
2) Is there any way to bypass the warning light?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I assume this will be a track car so it doesn't matter if the airbags and the rest of the restraint system are disabled. The restraint system won't work properly with most race seats and aren't compatible with race seats and harnesses.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but one additional part of the restraint system you will be messing with when you remove the OE 3-point belts are the seat belt pre-tensioners. You'll get an airbag light when you unhook them also.

Another feature that you may not have when you disable the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) is the telescoping steering column. Take a look at this:

http://www.pfadtracing.com/catalog/p...roducts_id/154

That Pfadt wiring harness adapter will allow you maintain the telescoping steering column, and I'm not sure but it may put out the airbag light for restraint systems that have been rendered inop.

There are no sensors to transfer, it's the side air bag itself that's in the seat. The light will remain on because it senses the air bags are disconnected. As long at the light is on, the air bag system in NOT operational.

One other point, if the air bags are disabled, your insurance company may become very upset. I would check with them. If this is not a pure race car, they may not honor a claim on the street.

Well then, here's a puzzler....

My C6Z's airbag light turned on like clockwork. The car was stock. I do not have side airbags. It always turned ON during my second HPDE session. It turned OFF after the two hour drive home. (The dealer checked the BCM with his Tech II, but nothing was communicating with anything due to a battery change.) No answer there.

A few months later it stayed ON continuously. The next year I changed the seats - but I kept all the rails, electronics, sensors, pretensioners, PPS, etc. in place, because understanding this system is like reading the Egyptian Book of the Dead. I don't know if it is working or not. Light on = bad. At least to me.

Sounds like the system has a fault, with all the original elements in place. Tech II again? Answers welcome!

Update. OK I fixed it. The sensor under the passenger seat wasn't hooked up. It all works perfectly now, Racetech Driver's and Cavaraggio Passenger.

I am still expecting the AB light to go on at the track after a couple of sessions as before.
