Now don't forget to get the Z51 playing cards cause then you can attach one or two to the wheel well so that they make noise when the spokes of your Vette hits them. Makes a really cool motor sound!
F55 FOREVER!

They have shoes ?????? I have got to get me some of them
Check out this months issue of Z51 magazine. They have a full track test of the new Z51 shoes. The did a comparison between these shoes and regular Nikes and the Z51 shoes just flat out smoked the Nikes. The only problems were over heated and broken shoe laces, they squeaked while walking, caused shin splints due to a harsh cushion, and wore out pretty quickly.

I suppose you could put some shrink tubing on the laces, silicon grease on the tongues to stop the squeaking and get them resoled with Firestone run flat rubber to increase walking distance and soften the impact !!!!
The way to find out for certain is to take it to a quarter mile track. You must arrange a Z06 , or better yet, a ZR1, to be there and agree to race you with official timing.
If it's a Z51 it will beat both Z06 and ZR1 no contest.
Just kidding. But if you read enough posts from "Z51" owners you could begin to "believe" as they say on X files....cause only on X files would a stock Z51 beat either a Z06 or a ZR1.
BTW....read further about aftermarket brake rotors and drilled rotors in specific and you'll learn that the concensus among experts ( not me ) is that drilled rotors are inferior to both solid and slotted. Somebody has added aftermarket rotors to the car in question. Could be base or Z51 option size.
Z51 rotors are a teeny bit larger than base but listening to owners you will quickly come to understand they make a lot more noise ( the rotors and the owners both ).
Don't overpay for a Z51 optioned car. Brand new it added at most $1500 to the price. Most likely the original soft tires are used up or have been replaced since they wear like a pencil eraser ( don't blame me read posts from owners ).
Z51 is a nice option. You get a rear sway bar that has been proven to enhance performance when added to the base coupe ( read posts ). But you can add that for less than $200 DIY. Whatever else Z51 adds doesn't amount to much ( read posts ).
Except that Z51 option owners very quickly become "legends in their own minds". ( read posts from people who call their C6s "Z51s" )
Here's the deal: If the ZR1 is 100 points then the Z06 could be somewhere around 85 (( Z06 owner might argue their car is actually better than a ZR1 ( read posts ) )). On a scale such as this a Z51 equipped base car might be 75 while a non Z51 optioned car 74 ( a very slight difference-Z51 option owners will disagree-read posts ).
To my knowledge nobody or no magazine has ever tested the much more high tech F55 option against the Z51 option head to head , same track, same time, same day , same conditions , etc. It could be that an F55 car would turn in better times than a Z51 optioned car.
But the Z51 option is really more retro than anything else, certainly more than the new Camaro, since the brakes, shocks, and suspension are basically right out of the sixties. Not saying that's bad-retro is "in" today.
Holes in rotors are for show ( read posts ) even on the Z06. The Z51 option is a relatively inexpensive handling/suspension/brake option that adds no additional hp and, at best, very little additional performance ( read posts ).
Warning: reading all Z51 option posts could be a full time job for six months.
There are a number of threads with examples of how great an addition that Z51 or Z06 sways are to the F55 suspension...I've never heard anything but great reviews and have thought seriously of adding them myself.
I have a base C6 and added the Z51 Sway bars. I am looking into an 09 and have tested a Z51 but not a F55. Has anyone put Z51 sway bars on a F55?
The 09 Z51 rides great but I am sure having tires down to the wear bars on my 2006 is not a fair comparison.
What to do?
I currently have an '08 Z51, and have also driven another member's '09 F55 w/Z51 swaybars. If I had to do it over again, I would get the F55 and install the Z51 swaybars.

And no, I don't have any Z51 badges.
That would seem to be the best of both worlds.
Why is the Z51 and F55 options not offered together as an option from the factory?
