Default Nav system replacement??

I noticed this on Gene's post and was wondering:

||--Navigation System--||

19159580 – 2199 (2006-2008)
19212599 – 2199 (2009)

Includes navigation unit, antenna, data and owners discs, instructions.

Note: Must have the Bose system in order to add this feature due to the wiring harness. The voice command features/functions will not work if you don’t have OnStar. The microphone can be added to use this feature. Please contact us.

Can I swap mine out for the 2009 version and get bluetooth or is there more to it?

Not sure but recently researching aftermarket replacement options and am not thrilled with what I have found out. Regardless fo maker of the system, you will spend as much if not more to equip and upgrade to in dash NAV, CD, DVD, and bluetooth. Requires additional head units for each system and willnot integrate with existing XM or factory modules.........

Local car stereo place quoted 2499 installed for Clarion VX709 with XM, NAV, Bluetooth and GM interdace modules installed.

What happened to the good ole days when us wrench heads could do it all ourselves with out having an electrical engineering degree?

I only paid about $1,450 for my Pioneer F900bt installed. The unit has Nav, CD, DVD, and bluetooth and included in my price was the extra $100 for the Pioneer XM module. Could have added iPod capability for a few dollars more, but didn't think I needed that.

Good Luck with your decision.

I like the Pioneer a lot. I had a c6 vert with the OEM nav and never liked that unit. I intentionally bought this coupe without the OEM nav because I knew I didn't want it. The Pioneer boots up a little slower than the OEM unit, but with the Ver 2.0 Pioneer upgrade even that is a lot better now. In the mornings I start the car back out of the garage and by the time I'm at the end of the driveway, the Pioneer is ready to rock'n'roll.

There is a wiring harness that retains the factory door open and seat belt chimes. Don't know about Onstar...the car (an '07) doesn't have Onstar. I do know, though, that the buttons on the steering wheel for volume and going up and down the radio channels/CD songs work.

Bottom line is that I wouldn't go back and have no regrets about my decision.

Default nav upgrade

I agree. avoid the stock nav. i love my pioneer avic f90bt
i upgraded the speakers to jlaudio xr's with amp at 100w/channel
it was worth every penny.

i can watch a movie and the sound is like being in a theater.

Aftermarket will be my second choice if I can't get the '09 Nav system to integrate into my '06 and have BT work without allot of other changes.

I was looking for a direct swap maintaining all other functions including HUD and yet get BT.

Anyone know if it's possible??

No. You need the 2009 VCIM in order to use the firmware in the 2009 head unit. OEM Bluetooth cannot be added to an older generation C6. Too many software and hardware changes.

You can actually add bluetooth to the stock bose nav unit by using a system called parrot. i think out the door its only a couple hundred bucks.

i have the c6 2008 Nav unit if you want it cheap. it's in a box with the 4 speakers. i just havent put it on ebay.
if you are interested PM me.

My '06 is the same as yours . . . no benefit. I looked at the Parrot but was not sure I wanted the unit hanging off the dash.

I've been considering using the ONSTAR Lockpick in combination with the parrot. Say's it uses the built in mic and controls to activate. I'm just not sure if it'll work.
