Dyeing interior trim pieces
Has anyone had any luck dyeing the interior trim pieces like the door panels, kick panels and the glove box and knee bolster?
I am thinking about changing my black interior to cashmere.
A buddy of mine had his A pillars, doors handles(red), the molding inside the hatch and the rocker panels painted White to match his Arctic White 'vette.
Get the April copy of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine. They did an article on dyeing seats and trim pieces. The did a 69 Camero interior. That may be a great place to start.
SEM makes an excellent line of interior dyes. They have all of the undercoat prep products you will need as well. Their dyes can be bought in rattle cans or ready to spray from your paint gun. If you are going to do tis yourself, you should go by your local automotive paint supply store and talk to them. They can give you step by step advice, and will almost certainly have the products you will need on hand.

I am hoping that I can dye the lower door panels and the glovebox door and the knee bolster under the steering column. These are relatively low wear and tear areas.
I would not attempt to dye the seats.
If I remember correctly (at my age that is debatable), I restored a 72 LT-1 and some of the stock GM parts were only available in Black and there was a note to paint/dye to match the interior color.
