Anyone get a card from XM offering $4.99/mt for 6 months or $6.48/mt for 12 months if you reactivate an account? It reminds me of those Swiffer ads--"Baby come back..." They can't even activate the XM on my new G8 GT. Not a bad deal though.
The other day they offered me $3.99/mo for 9 months. It won't do me any good, because it was only on my Denali. I asked if they would do that for the Vette and they couldn't. So I turned them down.

Started up XM for the first time (new customer). I insisted on the $77/yr rate and they gave it to me. Even got them to bill me instead of putting it on a CC
After the free trial of XM i secured a $77/year deal but they never actually sent me an invoice like I requested.
I got an email telling me how my "XM is now on" for a week or so to "let me know what im missing"
Thing is -- they only give you like 6 channels to listen to.... i might fire XM back up eventually, but their customer service and way of doing business doesnt sit right with me.
We started our second year of XM in our '08 for the $77/yr price tag. When the sales person (are they in India??) refused the $77, I had her connect me with the cancellation department who gladly gave us a second year @ $77. They even removed the original credit card from the account and billed us via snail mail.

But the current offer @4.99/month equates to 12 months for $59.88
You're right; I stand corrected. The big postcard I got just says $4.99 a month; the flip side clarifies that it's for 6 months, or $6.48 a month for 12 months.

2Vettes;
I called and got the $4.99 for 6 months on my Vette. Pretty good offer I think. I had them send me a paper bill as I will not give them my cc. Be aware though, they will try to re-new automatically at the end of the promo at full price and bill you. That is why you don't want them to have your cc.
While on the phone with them I got them to re-new my other XM radio in my daily driver for $77.00/year. I had to talk to the cancel department to get that rate. They at first said no, then they offered $9.99 a month, then they finally offered half price or $77.00 a year.
Just stick your ground, say the service is only worth the half price rate and be ready to cancel. Again, no cc on file so paper bill is required.
They try to get you to give them a cc by not charging the $2.00 for billing and offering a free month of service.
Just be aware like most subscription based services, they will re-new on your butt, and at the full rate.

Jeff...
Thanks for the advice, but I have no intentions of reactivating my account. 2 3/4 years ago, I didn't renew, but they had my cc # from the previous year and charged my cc for 3 months at a high rate. I only discovered that by accidentally when I was showing my car to a friend who hit the xm button and it worked; then saw charges on my cc statement.
To make it short, they would not remove the charges (more than 30 days into their 3 month renewal); I complained to cc company about unauthorized charges, and when cc company reversed the charges, xm starting sending collection letters. I would never do business with them again.
