i just did last month, as far as "effecting systems" you might need to be a bit more specific what you might be worried about.

Putting a 160F thermostat would not make any difference without changing the ECM to turn the fans on sooner. Once the temp hits 160 and the thermostat opens the temp will continue to rise until the ECM turns the fans on at around 212F. So the only difference I see is that it will take a little longer for the car to reach operating temp. It is the fans that keeps the temp down. Once the stat opens, there is nothing else it effects. So if the stock thermostat opens at 198F and the fans don't turn on till over 212, having the thermostat open sooner makes no difference.

Default temp

I have had some older cars that would not shift properly because the engine didn't reach operating temp for the computor to allow things to work because of low temp didn't know if this would cause any issue's with the dic or not

Please educate us ignorants. Well...me. Why would you want to? Are you looking to reduce engine wear or up performance somehow?

Exactly .

On the other hand , with a proper fan tune , yes it makes the car run substantially cooler .

And thats a good thing .

However, in cooler weather and at highway speed, the fan (there's only one) doesn't usually come on. In this case, the thermostat provides a minimum temp for the coolant.

Also in cooler weather, you want the car to warm up as soon as possible.
