3800 is exactly what Ive been practicing at.... Im curious as to what some serious tracksters have to say. With the back tires as wide as they are, Id think we could launch quite a bit higher than a mustang though...........

You might also ask this question in the C6 Tech/Performance section if you don't get enough serious responses here.

And don't launch it in water, it won't float.

I think we scared him off.

However, You may have wider tires but in all reality they dont help a bit.

The Torque / HP will spin them easily.

I'd launch lower as the key is getting the car going - not sitting there roasting the tires

From a thread in Performance forum. Search is your friend.

Launch RPM
Amount of forward travel during clutch engagement
Throttle squeeze
1) As for tire pressure, you may wish to lower the rears to 26 psi and drop in one pound increments to a minimum of 24 psi as needed. The fronts should be pumped up to the maximum.
2) I always do a strong burn out to heat the tires. This was accomplished by slowly rolling through the water and stopping in the moist area, placing the tranny in second gear, revving to 4200 rpm, dumping the clutch and quickly but lightly using the brake to steady the car. I let off the brake once strong smoke appears.
3) You can start at 3000 rpm and adjust from there up or down in 200 rpm increments. The release is quick but not a dump. I usually get full clutch engagement within the first 5-15 feet of travel. (Excessive slip will haze your clutch.) I quickly fed it throttle (not a stomp) near the very top of the clutch pedal travel.
4) Be very careful of wheel hop. If this occurs, get out of the throttle quickly to prevent damage.
5) Remember that cold, unprepped tracks will require more traction by lowering tire pressure, launch rpm, and slowing throttle squeeze.

Nannies Off, Watch wheel hop, I started at 1500 and increased it by about 300 each time until the car was launching real smoth and quick at around 2800. Quick release on the clutch. Also watch clutch fluid after a few runs. You might want to change it out using Rangers method. Good luck and let us know how you did. I went 12.4 @117 first time at trying the drag race stuff
