Lots of Pics!! By special invite I visited the GM Heritage Center in Detroit, MI
7 of us car nuts flew out from Dulles to Detroit Friday to view this special collection this past Friday. We also got to test drive the all new 2010 Camaro RS cpe that will be getting to the car dealerships this week. For those of you that felt GM sold the good stuff at Barrett Jackson well think again. GM has almost 1,000 vehicles in "Deep Storage" thru out the Detroit area and they rotate approx 185 of them thru the GM Heritage Center. This "Museum" is not open to the public and the GM Archives is housed there as well. We had open access to everything and I took 496 pictures, the most ever in one 5 hour session for me. Our Thanks goes out to all the people that made it happen! So now for your viewing pleasure is a sampling of what we saw last Friday. Enjoy. MORE PICS POSTED ON PAGE 2 AND 3 and 5.
Thats me on the left and David Landow...his Private Jet behind us.

I've been there as well and it is quite a treat. The things that scares me the most if GM goes into bankrupsy is that the creditors will force the sale of the Heritage Center vehicles and they will no longer ever be together again. They will be spread out in private collections all over the world and we will no longer be able to enjoy them.

"In honor of jpee"
These pics are so good to see. It really is a tracing of the history of cars, not just GM cars. But it also happens to chronicle the rise (and some make's fall) of GM.
Those cars are a treasure. In my opinion, it's too bad they can't figure out a way to make a small profit on displaying them. But more importantly, using them as a subtle advertising and promotional means for how GM designs its cars, and leading up to current models on their showroom floors.
Put in the right venue, such as one that is both kid- and adult-friendly like an Orlando, or middle of the US like a St. Louis, this could be a trendous sales tool and free advertisement. What an amusement museum it would make!!!!!
