Column Lock Start up Issue

Ok here's the story. Yesterday I went to start my car up, it sounded like the column lock was attempting to unlock itself but then slowed and abruptly stopped in the middle while attempting to unlock the cxar. Is this the dreaded column lock problem.

I went ahead and unplugged the battery (to give it a 'lil CTRL+ALT+DEL) action and then the column lock spontaneously disengaged and everything was dandy.

This happened to me once about 3 months ago too. The battery on this car is brand NEW like bought about 5 months ago.

I just would like to know if there is a DIY for this problem or should I take it to the stealership... ALSO I don't even know what the specific problem is because my fear is that the stealership will say, OH THE CAR IS FINE, and they won't even fix anything until the car finally DIES AGAIN.... I HOPE NOT SOMEWHERE Dangerous...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
