Default Brake Pad Question

I removed my calipers for painting. It appears that the back of the pads had an adhesive applied to bond the pads to the caliper piston and to the other side of the caliper.

What type of adhesive should I use to rebond the pads to the caliper, if any?

Not an adhesive but a lubricant for the piston and anti-squeak for the pads. Over time it gets sticky.

from what I can tell, and this is only anecdotal, having disassembled over 800 sets of calipers, I think its actually adhesive used on the assembly line. The reason I say this is because C5s didn't have it, and 09s and some 08s don't either. You can use an anti squeal lubricant, but it really isn't necessary. I've had no post-op complaints on any of the installs that I have done.
