I am thinking of putting a hidden cut off switch in my 09 C6. In the past I have used the clutch pedal for the cut off. Does any one have any other suggestions on how to wire a cut off switch? I am also wondering if I should bother putting this in if I have the on star automatic shut down. Your thoughts?
not sure I see the need to do this unless you plan to leave the fob in the car at sometime. with the electronics now, your Vette isn't going to start for anyone without the fob so a cut off switch would only be needed when your fob has been stolen as well. if I did put one on the car, the clutch sounds like a good curcuit to use and should be simple to wire in, etc.
I bet there are not very many C6 vettes stolen by starting them. I think they will take what they want (like the wheels), or even just take the whole car w/o starting it. Not sure a secret switch will help unless they have the FOB.

if your concerned about theft, why not take out the fuel pump or pcm relay in the underhood fuse box when parking the car? no start then.

Actually you might have an idea here.
Why not provide a switch to the wire from the positive fuel pump feed. Someone once said if the pump doesn't have energy, the computer will not allow the starter to engage.
Maybe one of the technical guru's can answer this !!!
I'd be reluctant to mess with the system. My BIL is a long time auto tech, and says that the modern computers are very sensitive to changes in resistance of the circuits.
When I installed a CB radio in my C5, suddenly I had to hold the key to "start" for about 3 seconds before the engine would crank; but only if the CB was turned off! Others reported a similar situation. Apparently the computer had to think about the tiny drain of the CB when it was off, but didn't care about the larger drain of it being turned on.
Never turn your back on an electron!

I would put in a "tilt sensor" and connect it to the alarm system instead of a cut off switch.

I can see this being more of an issue, for say your brother in law that you don't like, picking up your fob and messing with the car, or to keep a teenage son from taking the car while you are gone. But just straight out starting the car without the fob, like others mentioned, would be hard to do. I have done this on some older trucks that we used around the shop, that we always just left the keys in, but you had to know where to flip the switch to start.
