Dumb question, but can you turn off things like the seat belt chime.
I wear my belt on the road always, but when I back the car in and out of the garage to the driveway (to wash it) the stupid thing is annoying (as for the 10 feet I don't buckle the belt). I have it turned off on my Jeep for this reason and was hoping the Corvette had a similar option.
Are you sure its the seatbelt chime? I can drive mine from Walmart to Home Depot (right next door) without buckling up....unless you have a really long driveway...

Get a seatbelt extender and leave it pluged in. No seatbelt chimes that way. Get the shortest one and it puts the end up a lot higher and easier to reach when you do plug in the belt.

There is no way to turn it off without doing some kind of "over-ride". FMVSS requires the seatbelt chime, and as such there will be no option provided in the vehicle to turn it off. You'll have to bypass the system somehow on your own.

Hmm, wonder how Chrysler gets away with the override then.
I've read about lowering chime volume, but I need it high for things like the Low Fuel chime...
On the subject of chimes,,sometimes,,not always,,,when I open the door to get in the car,,weather the door was locked in a parking lot or in my garage where its left un-locked,,,the chimes will be going off,,anyone know why this would happen? As I said it does it at times without me doing anything different,,,always carrying my own fob,,not the 2nd one that came with the car.

How many times does it chime? If 3, it may be a warning that when it was shut down, it "thought" a fob was left in the car.
Jim it will chime til I start the car,,and its a whole lot more than 3 times, plus I never leave a fob in the car,,the 2nd fob is no where near it. Like I said it doesn't do it everytime,,just curious if anyone else has this happen,,the biggest concern for me originally was the DBS,,I thought maybe something electrical was on while the car sat and it would kill the battery, but I really don't think thats of concern in this matter. Again what I am experiencing at times is that when I walk up to the car,,open the door,,it will chime continuiously til I start the car.

If you open the door, get out, leave the door open and then get back in, the horn chirps 3 times. I hate that.
My dad actually cut a template of the metal insert out of hard plastic about the same thickness and clicks that in to stop the chiming and red flashing light. Works great and the plastic piece is small and handy.
adjust the chime volume ? how ?
The annoying part is not so much the chime, but rather when the chime comes on , it completely cuts off the music on the left channel.
Kind $ucks, if you are working on the car with the door open ,the radio on, and the ignition on accessory mode.
The instructions are not in the 2005 owner's manual, but here is the paragraph from the 2006 owner's manual (page 3-101). The default chime volume is the lower of the 2 volumes.
Chime Level Adjustment
The radio is used to adjust the vehicle’s chime level.
To change the volume level of the chime, press and hold
pushbutton 6 with the ignition on and the radio power
off. The volume level will change from the normal
level to loud, and LOUD will appear on the radio display.
To change back to the default or normal setting,
press and hold pushbutton 6 again. The volume level
will change from the loud level to normal, and NORMAL
will appear on the radio display. Only one chime will
be heard when changing from the normal to the
loud setting. Each time the chime volume is changed,
three chimes will sound as an example of the new
volume selected. Removing the radio and not replacing
it with a factory radio or chime module will disable
vehicle chimes.
Pushbutton 6 it's talking about is radio preset button 6.
