Hard not to flame for that, However, The factory cats are very efficient, meaning they flow very well with a very minimal amount of restriction, In all but the most highly modified engines you would be hard pressed to tell the differeance between the catted and none catted performance if the elimination of the cats was the only differeance.
I'll only pretend that I think I know where you are going with this. Maybe this post from shopdog will shed some light, if not, sorry, I'm just trying to help:
Is there anyone making Catalytic replacements for your factory CATS that only look like the real thing?
Maybe with a straight pipe going thru them
I hope I don't get flamed to bad for this..........
No reputable muffler shop or repair shop will remove cats or replace non oem cats. They could lose their license and face some severe fines. Plus, the ecm is programmed to the stock cats. If you replace them or otherwise change them, you will probably start showing an CIL.
Also, if you live in a state that has emissions testing, (here in FL we do not), you will fail.
I would just leave them. They are as efficient as they can be and still meet federal and state requirements.
Look up the federal fines for this before deciding to do anything........if you every take it in for service, the garage is likely going to decline to even work on your car if there are no cats...........too much liability for them.
The others above are right......unless your car is a pure race car, there is no way your ECM and the rest of your car is going to run right without the cats........really bad idea..........
