The onboard diagnostics were disabled for the C6. You can no longer get at the codes via the DIC like you could in the C5. I miss that. You will need to get a CANBUS capable OBDII diagnostic scanner. This will run you around $60.00 to $120.00 depending upon what features and where you buy it.

That wont work on the C6. A code reader is the only way.

I just got hit with CEL. I believe it may be the gas cap but since I just replaced the battery, not sure what it can be. I will be buying a OBD II reader. I found 2, one from Equus 3030 and one from Actron 9125. Both run $60. Any hints which one I should buy? Thanks.

The only thing you need to ensure is that it is CAN capable. This will identify the "Controller Area Network" protocol that is used on the Corvette. It may also be stated as CAN Bus.

Thanks. I believe both models are CAN enabled. Just wondering which company is best?

I would hesitate to advise, I don't have any experience with either one.

The one that I have recommended a number of times to people is this one:

http://www.diydiagnostics.com/

It is the fourth one down the page from the top.

Then that's the one I will be getting. Thanks again.

You mean this one, right?

This one, 5th down looks good also, a few bucks more.

Yes, the first one you linked is my standard recommendation. I'd say you can't go wrong with either.

Are either one of these updateable from the web or pc? Someone mentioned the Innova 3100 which is updateable. How often do you need to update an OBD?

Thanks to all who replied. I ended up with this one.

http://diydiagnostics.com/can_obdii_specs.htm

I felt go cheap, get the code, clear it, and then research it on the net.
