I've had my 08 back to the dealer 3 times for an electric top that works about 50% of the time. When it doesn't, I have to pull the manual release behind the passenger seat to pop the lid, and then it continues the rest of it's cycle. It's behaved this way since day one. Has anyone come across this issue?
I haven't heard of that problem yet but have had a few other's myself. It sounds like the tonneau latch isn't releasing automatically. Keep taking it back until it's right.
I don't remember anything like that. Sounds like a very specific problem, should be a straight forward diagnosis and fix but apparently not. Please let us know what happens.
hate to hear of these isues, especially on newer cars. I wonder how many Chevy dealers actually invest in technician training for specific vehicles, especially corvettes.
Dealers should not be allowed to sell corvettes unless they have at least two fully trained technicians on staff. seems to be a minimal investment for the privelege to sell a +$60K car.

I have had same problem. I continued to take it back to the dealer until it finally works each time. They about replaced all the sensors and finally found the problem. Hang in there!!

So are you saying it WAS a sensor problem? And if so, can you share with RG from your service write up which one it was? That'd be really helpful to their finding the issue without more visits.
Thanks for all the input. It would be helpful to know which sensors were replaced in CalJim's car. It's not that big a deal to pull the release cord every other time, but it would be nice if it worked properly.

I will get the information. I have a good relationship with the Corvette Master Mechanic and the dealership.

After a couple of unable to duplicate customer's concerns at this time, the dealer replaced the complete latch release assembly. It tuned out that I also had a bypass valve that was partially open. The dealer closed the valve and torqued it. I have had no further top problems.
When I had the latch problem, the top would start to go down, but the tonneau cover would not release. It would bounce up and down, but the latch wouldn't release.
When I had the bypass valve problem, the tonneau cover wouldn't do anything. If I manually moved the rear section of the top up a bit, the tonneau cover would release. The top has to be in the correct position for the cover to open.

I have a 2005 and after a couple of months of lowering and raising the top (electic) I started having problems. After many tries with the dealer they found that the factory did not trueup the frame movenment and its relationship with the positional sensors and switches so the top never knew where is was in the cycle (including the tonneau). In there "uneducated attempt" to correct the condition they damaged the material of the top which they ended up replacing the frame and the top. Since they had to start at ground zero putting in the new top they were able to synchronize all the sensors and switches and the top has worked flawlessly since.
My suggestion to you is to be on hand so you can view what they are doing and when they are operating the top.
Good luck. Once it is fixed correctly the view is awesome.
I of course don't know if this is the answer to your problem but I will share my problem & repair to you.
I have an '07. The top would start to lower but get hungup & the tonneau would NOT unlatch. Dealer diagnosed problem as "5th bow signal wire open". Dealer "repaired wire to 5th bow sensor".
This was last Dec. & top lowers/raises just fine. Good luck.

The 5th bow is the bow that touches the tonneau cover when the top is up,,,below the rear window. 4th bow is the one above the rear window. 5 total, starting with the one that touches the windshield frame.
