I am working with a dealer on a 2008 Z06, used, but with 240 miles on it. The weird thing is that the original guy traded that Z06 in for a 2009 Z06. Now why would someone do that? Is there something in an 09 that is substantially better, maybe rear end? Anyone know? I am close to pulling the trigger on the Z06, the dealer wants $55k for this machine (its loaded).
Maybe color or maybe bluetooth. Who knows maybe he just likes buying new. Let's hope he didn't wreck it with just so few of mile. I think I would still get a car fax anyway. Sounds like a great deal on the surface.

Substantially, no. The 09 does have the electrically assisted hatch closer in addition to more color options over the 08.
I'd check it out carefully and look for any damage (paint color variation, a small ding, anything, etc.). Hope it does check out and in the mean time . . . I'm mad at you.
Seems a little odd. As others have suggested, look at the paint closely for signs of repair, including checking the body bolts in the engine compartment to see if they've been removed/replaced. Look for variations in the paint color. Just proceed smartly and with a decent amount of skepticism. Can you have someone "independent" look the car over for evidence of accident repair?
I have a customer who trades every year. He always orders a Z06 in the same color combo and options. Each year his trade has around 100 miles on it. It's his money and I'm not going to turn him away. Some people just like to have the newest thing even if there's no difference.
Take your finger and run it on the inside seams of the panels, this is a good way to tell if there is any paint on it. If the edges are rough, it's been painted, if soft, good to go. Any car sales manager can tell you this, one of the first things the old school guys do when they look over a car!
You better not tell this group which dealer you're talking to; wait too long and that car is going, going, gone. 55k and 240 miles? Congratulations and gosh darn you.

Quite honestly I don't think it's strange at all. Come on, we are talking about Corvette owners. Some guys won't take their car out if there's even a remote possability of rain. Some don't rev their engines past a certain RPM because they think it will hurt the car. There are all kinds of reasons that Vette owners don't drive, keep low mileage etc.. To each his own but I wouldn't be afraid of that particular Z. Have it checked by a trusted independent shop and your good to go.

Those guys are great for people that actually want to buy one to drive, but not pay brand new prices. I can appreciate the money they waste on depriciation and store the car in pristine condition without driving it, just to save the car for the next guy. It is truely a public service they perform.
