Has anyone attempted to put on the clear bra on there own? I am a pretty good mechanic but was just wondering if I am taking on too much. I bought the bra on ebay for 60 bucks and the shop said they would charge 200 to put it on.
Installation is everything with that stuff. I have seen a few posts where even pro installers have had trouble and had to rip it off and start over. I remember one member said he did it himself successfully but that is it. I don't think it's a DIY. JMO of course. Good luck.
I'm with Rick on this one. I think I've seen one poster who claimed to be successful at it, and several that said they were "going to try doing it." And never reported back..... Like many things that are not "just tighten the bolt" this one takes a bit of learning and a knack for doing it. Kinda like sanding wood floors with a big rotary power sander, if you've ever tried that, or watched it being done. If you still want to do it, ask a dealer who they use, and go watch an experienced person do it. At 260 all in, that's a bargain!
Sounds like you got clear vinyl off of Ebay. If so it will not protect your paint and I wouldnt bother putting it on. Do you have the link you got it from? I have been trying to warn people that these kits are not legit... and I have seen some damage the paint. True paint protection film can not be bought for that price... the material alone is significantly higher.
I bought a 3M clear kit for my 'Busa. I installed it myself and it was hard.I'm only talking about the gas tank. For myself after seeing how hard that was and I'm talking about making it look good no bubbles or creases.I would not even think about less than professional install on a project that big.Preferably from an installer with some really good rep.
Its the 3M film. It came in the packaging and I had my 3M rep look at it. He authenticated it. It came from Canada. This was the only one I've seen on ebay. I talked to the guy I bought it from in Canada and he ordered 2 just in case he messed it up putting it on. It was pure luck. The film on the web for the front mask of the vette is 135 bucks not including installation. Here's a link. http://www.invisiblemask.com/site.ht...D=151508350511
I have done tint on my vehicles before and with patience, I can do a great job, but those guys that put on that bra are clearly pros. I had my vette done last year and it was worth the money. I just take too much time in doing this task. It definitely would be bragging rights if you do this and it looks great.

Ok I thought you bought it from an Ebay store... not an individual. Ebay stores are notorious for selling clear vinyl as clear bra kits.
