Gasline
What type of Gas do you use? I seen a add from Shell where they have a new additive, (Nitrogen) for cleaning proposes, I believe?
Does anyone know if it works or not?
Also I have always used Chevron 93 octane in TX and elsewhere when I can get it and get pretty good MPG, around town with mixed Hwy/City driving 21 to 23 MPG and 26 or 27 on the Hwy. That’s at 75 to 80 MPH. How is that compared to the rest of you?

There have been threads here before that gas is gas is gas regardless of where you buy it (except for the additives some brands add to the gas). Personally, I'm not an expert to know any better. All I can say is that when I used to race, it was always CAM2 (a Sun Refineries product). So, for me, it's Sunoco Ultimate. If I can't get that when I need it, it's Amoco Gold. If that fails, then anything that's 93 octane.

I typically use Exxon (because the speedpass is quick and easy) but I also cycle in Chevron on occasion. Always 93 octane. I get 21 mpg city/hwy mix and I don't baby the car. I get around 26 to 27 on the interstate and rarely do less than 80 mph.

Mostly Shell V-Power with an occasional Chevron Supreme to keep the fuel gauge working
No problems with either an '02 Z06 or '07 C6

I use Sunoco 94 octane. I think it helps keep the soot buildup to a minimum on the back of my car and my NPP exhaust tips. I have no data that says it actually reduces the soot but I think it does so don't bust my bubble. Let me keep thinking it does.
I use Shell. We have a lot of so called rocket scientists on this forum who call the additives a scam. Seems like a heck of a chance for a major company to pull a scam on their customers. If they were exposed the damage would be tremendous. Do not see Shell taking that chance.

I work for an oil co.
Your generally okay anywhere you go except maybe an OLD OLD station / Private owner type... where lack of maintenance may increase your risk of a problem. (i.e. dirty pump filters)
With the addition of Ethanol... I think Nitrogen is a waste because the Ethanol is eating all that gunk anyway.
Anyway here's why.
1. Federal Govt has mandated Detergents in all gasoline. While some proprietary detergents such as Shells or Chevrons may be formulated the best... the base gas is all the same and all detergents clean your engine etc.
2. Laws requiring storage tank upgrades are forcing older steel tanks out of the ground and new double wall fiberglass in. The new regulations also have safeguards.
So you have to ask yourself if paying more for Shell/Chevrons proprietary additive is important to you. Generally MAJOR oil stations (shell, BP, Conoco, Exxon) are more expensive then your Independents (Sunoco, Hess, Valero, Murphy, BJ, Costco) ?
So just know that if you fill up at a cheaper place (independent) above. You will have the Detergents, same base gas, and save a little money too.
If you fill up at the MAJORs you will have same base gas, proprietary detergent which will make you feel better.
The choice is yours but being in the Industry.. people choose price first.
For the Corvette its not going to hurt where you go... With Ethanol I tend to think Premium Detergents are not as important as pre-ethanol.
