what is the best battery tender/saver and where can it be purchased? Will be out of town for a couple of months and don't want the battery to die as it works great today.

This is what I used ovr the winter. Battery out of the Vette and on this for 5 months. Put the battery back in, hit the button, and she started up like the 5 months never happened.

Got mine at Napa for less than $30

Has charge, maintain, and pulse modes. Fully automatic. Just put it on the battery, plug it in, and then let it do it's job.

There are cheaper ones but since you asked for the best IMHO there are two: CTEK and Battery Tender (Deltran).

I own a Battery Tender II that I paid about $60 for that is purportedly "the best"...also have one (trickle charger) I got at Walmart for about $10 that does the same thing. Both work well.

I bought 3 "Vector" battery tenders from WallyWorld (Wal-Mart) for $17 per and they work just fine, except for the one that I knocked off a four-high stack of tires. It don't work no more.

My battery tender is a 12mm socket. Removes the negative battery cable when I need to store the car for months at a time. But I digress ....
