Automatic c6 burnouts
Hello all, I know its a bit of a funny title but I'm just curious.
Last year I purchased a mint 05 c6 and I LOVE IT! I guess you can say I'm fairly young to own one as I am only 23 years old. And its also my first rear wheel drive car. My daily driver is a Honda Civic!!! Quite a difference :P
I also like doing burnouts, but I wanted some pointers from some burnout professionals.
I just keep it in drive, hammer the break and mat the throttle. It does smoke em pretty good but it seems to grab really quick while my foot is still on the break.
Am I doing something wrong?
Another thing, how durable are these rear ends? Im scared of blowing it :| I tried researching blown c6 rear ends and I didn't really come up with anything.
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

If burnouts are your thing, get your self a strait axle car, put alloy axles and a locking spool in it.
The half shaft style rear ends in vettes/Jags etc, were never designed for this kind of abuse.....no matter what the year.
You will pay the price!

You do realize that rubber and rear differentials are quite expensive to replace on these cars..............right?
I don't how much money you earn, but I do know what you'll be spending it on.

I have about 100 1/4 mile runs on my 05 A4 .. I also have a Line Lock... so far... so good its stock but I've run 12.08 as for the weak rear thats why I'm avoiding a 3200 converter...
As for burn outs I do one before each run with drag radials (I would think they put more of a load on the rear than the stock street tires)
I just go through the water box, hold the line lock and do my thing... Tires get expensive.. but the car runs like a champ !!

Yup,
The 05 manuals dont have the upgraded rear. Just stay away from any wheel hop. Do a few burn outs and then chill holmes. Trust me , from other post s here you do not want to blow the rear end up. I have the A6 and have not problem with burnouts.

I'm just testing your "Intuation" (sp) .... I've been Drag Racing since 1960... used to run a C/G then ran a Modified Production car, and my last "Serious" car was a D/Altered, Chassis built by Don Ness, engine by Bob Ingles of Westchester..
As of late, I have been thinking of changing from Drag Racing to "Drifting' with 22" CHROME Wheels..
How old am I ...

I have an 05 auto as well. Here are some pointers. The diff is supposed to be weaker but with an auto youre less of a risk. I track mine with no problems so unless you get whell hop I dont forsee an issue.
Turn the TC off.
Get into the brake but not too hard.
Give it some gas.
If the car rolls forward a lot your giving it too much brake ease up.
Also cover the rear end with some painters tape to keep the rubber off it.
Im young too and love doing burn outs. Just make sure its at the proper venue. I.E drag strip abandoned parking lot you get the drift. You dont want to do this in the wal mart at one in the afternoon.

Forget all the linelock stuff and preloading the TQ. Just punch it large on the onramp and slide a little while burning. No reason to smoke up your tires a lot. Thats not a burnout thats a fire biatch. Like the other poster said the tires are not cheap.
