The C6 Nav itself is actually Great once getting used to Navigating through the Menu.

There's only so much room in the Vette dash and the problem is not the Nav System itself, but the "fixed" angle of the screen.

Any Day Light / reflection washes out the Screen even in the Coupe.
The one in my EXT has a different Menu but has all the "same" Functions, which are plentiful, and also will get glared out at times, but because of the different angle, not near as much as the C6.
Since there's more room in the dash with the EXT NAV,.. it has a Very useful rocker button that will tilt the screen to 3 different angles to put the Screen at an angle that does not let the glare wash out the screen.
I find the menu on the EXT easier to navigate but,... the Nav Unit in the C6 has all the same Functions and capabilities.

I agree many other units like Garmin etc are great but I find they don't have any more capability than the C6 NAV unit.
They're simply much easier to use if not using the NAV all the time and getting familiar with it.

I agree, there is glare with the top down. Top up, it's fine. I'm one of the rare Vette owners that happens to like the factory NAV and Bose though.

I also like having the screen for all the audio functions.
In my opinion it is also a much better looking dash

Count me in as well. However, there is a learning curve.

Just try the day/night mode...it should help. If you are having problems with voice commnds (I'm doing this from memory here) puch the "source" button and it will give you options from there.

Red Cell.

The FACT is the navigation screen is useless with the top down - that ain't bitchin' it is just stating a FACT. I had it in my '06 convertible and in the '08. Both are/were useless with the top down. They are/were fine with the top up, mostly because I have what most would consider "limo tint" on the side and rear. It's amazing my Garmin Zumo is very readable in the bright sun light on my bikes. And the nav in my Dodge pickup is readable with my moonroof open and windows down.

I have no problem with day mode, top down, and sun at my back. Try the day mode. I think some of you guy's may be forgetting just how powerful the sun is though. The Nav is stationary and a Garmin can be moved. Be realistic.

Buy an '09 without NAV or Bose to save money. Instal a Garmin. Garmin works better than NAV and can be used in your other vehicles plus rentals. The standard radio sounds better than Bose and has a plug-in for your Ipod which sounds as good if not better than CD's. Plus the '09 has bluetooth mounted on the steering wheel for hands-free voice command use of your cell phone through the car's speakers, which is too cool.

Stock Nav is better then the Garmin. I have both and agreed with you until I read the manual for the stock Nav. I really thought the stock Nav sucked. But, after reading the manual I found the stock Nav is incredible and has many cool options. Input telephone number for address, day mode, night mode, voice command, split screen a is very cool option also. Yes, Garmin is a great Nav but looks cheesey in a Corvette. The stock Nav integrates very nicely into the interior.

To each his own. The Garmin mounted just under the rear view mirror is closer to being a heads up dispay and doesn't require looking down at the console and taking one's eyes far off the road, although the console Vav screen does admittedly look nicer, it doesn't offer overall value which is always a goal of mine.

The Stock Nav is integrated into the HUD for the ultimate in safe viewing, so you never have to take your eyes off the road.
