I have a problem OnStar was not working called in from a land line and they said I had a hardware problem. Took it to the Dealer the dealer called and said I had no time on the phone and it wouldn't work till I bought mins. and the system worked . Got back home called OnStar they confirmed my purchase of Mins. on 3/10/09. But they called several time but couldn't download mins ? (car in Storage?) So they put in another order and I have to wait up to 24 hrs. to receive. Well that didn't happen called again and they told me there is a Hardware problem. Called Dealer he thought it worked, that I just needed mins. Has anyone had a simular Hardware problem?
No, but it sounds like you need your service writer to call OnStar directly on your behalf so the two of them can come to a conclusion instead of you having to be the middle man.

Right, Looking to see if there were simular problems ? fixes
I had a similar problem with a 2009 Cadillac SRX I just bought. The OnStar advisor connected me to their Technical Dept and after checking the tech said they needed to push a "software update". That took about 5 minutes.
When that was done they had to re-add my minutes and change the OnStar phone number to a local area code, it was a GM executive driven CPO car that had a Detroit area code. That took another 10 minutes.
You do not need minutes for the system to work, only to use the phone separately from the system. You have full use of the other functions whether you pay for minutes or not.
