Oh, I should tell you that link is picture intensive so beware of the download.

I chose to the the second option and now I have a touch screen to control the Ipod and view all my songs, playlists and album art in full color- something the stock unit would never do! Good luck!

There are so many threads on the forum that it tends to get lost quickly.
The Peripheral unit is a good one. I hope to test the bluetooth module that is soon supposed to become available.

Nothing I can find online seems to indicate that any of the adaptors work with this stereo.

Do you have a 1LT package? If so, then you have a non-bose system.
The kit's packaging says it will not charge the New Ipod Nano's and Touch's. However, icarkits includes a second cord that does charge the ipod. So, don't use the cord that has the same logo as the adapter and harness, if you have or think you will get a new Ipod.
I notched (1/8 inch or so vertical cut) the front of the storage console to allow the wire to slip down and the ipod to be in the storage console. I thought this a better approach than drilling a hole big enough to the the end of the wire through. Most of the vertical slot is covered by the dash part that covers the stereo and shifter section(not sure what to call it). My slot is actually under the 12v plug in hole, so it is almost invisible.

I suspect that you were never in the "Ipod" mode correctly, until you started playing with it, and "accidentally" got into it.
When I first started playing with this, I also thought perhaps it was either defective or I was doing something wrong. But after spending some time with their Tech Support guru, Tony Tasillo, I found that it works fine if you are fairly quick after you leave the XM band (either XM1 or XM2).
To change modes (going to Ipod or AUX1, which is Ipod Direct Control), you must leave XM by pushing the AM, FM, or CD button, then wait a second or two until it initializes. Then go back into XM and quickly press the SEEK button to make your mode choice. You only have a few seconds to do this, but once you get the hang of it, it works pretty consistently - at least that's what I found.
Personally, I like the PXAMG unit a lot, but my only minor complaint is this somewhat convoluted procedure to change modes. It would be a bit better if you could change modes by simply pressing a single button like the USA Spec PA11-Vette adapter. I have asked Peripheral if perhaps they could incorporate this design change into later firmware, but so far I have not received an answer.
Regarding charging the new Ipods and Iphones, Peripheral only started shipping the new adapters with the new cords recently. The new "5V" cords will charge both the new and old Ipods and Iphones, but make sure you get the correct revised cord.
Hope this helps a bit.

Reason for trying to find a useable adaptor is to keep the car "clean" and not have a tangle of 4 - 6 wires for iPods, phones, radar detectors... Yes, the aux jack would sound fine, but it's just another wire to get in the way and otherwise look cludgey...
Kinda wishing we'd gone w/ the nav at this point ... it just didn't feel worth an extra $2000 at the time... anyone know if it's possible to swap the two at this point?
thanks for the feedback so far...
*anyone with any of these adaptors installed at the C5/C6 bash?
