Default Customizable DIC C6 - Help

I have a quick question and once again the FAQs don't have anything on this topic. My 05 coupe came with no owners manual however I do have the PDF version. The model I just purchased I think may be a base model with no NAV or HUD. Now on the DIC I understand it can be customized with different options. I wanted to start to set my setting however when I press the options button I get the NO OPTIONS AVAILABLE. Am I missing something or are the DIC functions like programmable intros not available on all models. I've only had this gem for a week now.

The 2007 manual states:

If a keyless access transmitter that is not labelled 1 or 2 is used, the personalization system will not recognize the transmitter. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will not display a current driver number and the features that are normally programmed through the DIC will be set to the default states. Also, if the OPTION button is pressed, the DIC does not display the menus used to set personalizations, but instead displays OPTIONS UNAVAILABLE for a few seconds.

That points to another issue. The car can store up to 4 fobs. If you just programmed one and it said Maximum number of key fobs that means that you are on FOB 4. If you only have one other one, that means that there are two other fobs out there that can open and start your car. You might consider going to a dealer and have them perform the 30 minute fob programming routine to clear all the fobs and then re-program it with just your two. Once that is done you will get access to your personalization settings and the other two fobs that were stored will be erased.

found this would this be the way to clear all keyfobs or would it be better to visit a dealership?

1. Car off
2. Trunk open
3. Glove box open
4. Make sure NO Fobs are anywhere near the car. IMPORTANT.
5. Put key in trunk keyhole and turn key five times in less than 5 seconds.
6. DIC will now beep and light up and say “Off/Acc to learn” If you decide at this point NOT to do the programming now, push the TOP half of the Start button and the car will return to normal. To continue with programming:
7. Push bottom half of the Start button. DIC will say to wait 10 minutes and will start counting down the minutes. You may close the trunk and car door while waiting for the ten minute countdowns.
8. After the first 10 minute countdown, DIC will again say “Off/Acc to learn”. Push bottom half of Start button again. DIC will again start counting down the ten minutes.
9. After the second 10 minute countdown, DIC will again say “Off/Acc to learn”. Push bottom half of Start button again. DIC will again start counting down the ten minutes.
10. After this third ten minute period is over, DIC will say “Ready for Fob #1” Regardless of the number on the Fob, the FIRST Fob that is put in the glovebox slot will be recognized as Fob #1. Put the first Fob in the glovebox slot with the buttons facing to the right (passenger) side.
11. After 3 or four seconds the DIC will beep and say “Ready for Fob #2”. Put the second Fob in the slot. The car will take a maximum of four fobs. When you have no more Fobs to program, push the bottom half of the Start button to end the programming session.
12. Test all buttons on the fobs to make sure they work, then take all fobs away from the car and, one by one, try using each to start the car.

Default Reprogramming Fobs

Ed is right on with his advice. This process works just as described - I performed it this week to program out a fob not given to me by the previous owner. It's simple to follow. I set a timer at the beginning of each ten-minute period to ensure I was ready at the appropriate times - no problem.

I used the timer because of the following: "The car will give you a couple of minutes while it waits for you after each 10 minute period. If, however, you get busy and don't come back to the car for too long after each 10 minute period the car will shut the process off by itself and you will have to start over from scratch. You do not need to sit in the car for the ten minute period if you use a timer - just show up ready when it expires, or very soon thereafter."

Good luck - you can do it.

Ok the procedure works perfect right as described. I now have the ability to customize my setting and greeting on the DIC. I repaired my fobs from 3 and 4 to 1 and 2. No need to visit the dealership with the steps I found on this site. Thanks again Talon and Gota and my apologies for being such a pest....haha
