Automatic Trans 'Paddle' Shifter Question
Thanks folks for all of the replys, I am really at a loss as to where I should go 2004 C5 Z06 or 2006 Coupe A6. Prior to finding out about this paddle shifting tranny I was sold on an 04 Z06 , but now..... I just don't know. I am a first time buyer and have always wanted a 'vette I like the C6 body more but I like the performance stats of the C5 Z06. I plan to use this car as a daily driver and to be honest I think that the C6 sounds to me like it would be a much better DD.
What do you guys think? You have had much more experience with these than I have.
One more question in regards to the A6 tranny, do you have to be stopped to change the mode of the tranny? That is to say suppose it is in 'normal tranny mode' and I want to change it to 'paddle shift mode' can I do that while the car is in motion or do I have to bring the car to a complete stop first?
Thanks again guys!

OK I have a A4 so I don't know about the A6.. "If" you put it in the "S" mode to use the paddle shifts... lets say (for arguments sake) in D you floor it & the car shifts itself at 6200 RPM... if you have it in "S" in 1st gear and floor it.. and you hit the paddle to shift to 2nd gear at 5000 RPM will it "SHIFT AT 5000" or will it stay in 1st until 6200 "THEN shift to 2nd gear..
I ask this because my wife has an Audi Automatic it also has D ans "S" and manual mode... If I put it in "S" and start in 1st gear, I can shift to 2ns or 3rd.. & it will NOT shift until it reaches the programmed shift point (app 6000 rpm)
Bottom line can you as that say with a manual 6 speed Short Shift" I know when I race my buddy's C4 with a full manual valve body automatic trans... if I shift to 2nd gear at 3000 it will go into 2nd NOW at 3000 RPM... however with my C6 (A4) if I put it in #1 "first gear" it will start in 1st.. and if I shift to 2nd it will NOT shift until it reaches 6300 rpm... However if I an at a STOPPED position & put the shift into 2 the car will start in 2nd gear.... if I put it in 3 it will start off in first gear and shift to second, and third gear normally...
I hope i made myself understood.. I think I'm sounding like a 2nd grader trying to explain Algebra to a math teacher

I'm afraid I wont be able to take full advantage of the 'magnet' feature unfortunately as I am 'with woman' as they say. Whom, I might add, doesn't want me to get a 'vette at all. (Whats wrong with these women these days?)
