Big JAKE, installed
I repainted my underhood version of JAKE a brighter silver. The original dark silver did not show up when actually installed. Here he is, admiring the heads/cam/FAST/headers/3.90 gears installed by HorsePower Sales.

The earlier version . . .
I thought it looked good hanging on a wall in my office, but under the hood there was not enough light to bring out the contrast between the black background and the charcoal gray metallic JAKE, hence the bright silver facelift, as in the OP.

First, use three to four spray cans of semi-gloss (or semi-flat or satin) black to saturate the hoodliner, front and back. This can be the cheap spray paint from the big-box home improvement store.
Then spray the embossed cross-flags emblem with one complete spray can of gloss black paint. OK to overlap some onto the area that will be colored. You can use engine enamel, from an auto parts store, for this.
Then, lay out the JAKE with blue painters tape, and mask off what should stay black, including the embossed emblem. Then spray away with engine enamel in your choice of color. A yellow JAKE on your GT1 Special Edition would be very appropriate !
