On Star Question
I don't have an On Star subscription as I purchased my 08 coupe used.
I was familiarizing myself with the car and pushed the On Star button.
I hear a phone dialing and a live voice answers. She asked if I had an emergency. I said no, apologized and she said so problem and hung up.
I figured it would be inoperable since I had no subscription. So, in an emergency they would pick up and call 911 for you? I wonder if they still monitor if the air bags go off?
Anyone have a clue?

Maybe the previous owner did not cancel the onstar, is the car a year old yet? In any case if you do not have the service active it will not monitor your airbags or anything else as far as I know and from what they tell you when you cancel.
