Went to my dealer today to see about a new Delco Battery for my 2005 C6. It's $107. That's ok with me. But, he said the listing called for a 590 amh battery. That seems low to me. Is this correct? My battery is the original one, never failed, and has never been on a tender. Wondering if I need to do this right now.
Reading through all the battery posts here I concluded that the factory battery seems to either die immediately or after about 3 years. I replaced my 2005's battery about 6 months ago just as a preventive measure even though it was working fine. There is just too much stuff depending on it to not be careful.
I put in a new Delco at the dealer and it hasn't given me any problems since.
The big problem with batteries is how long the the car sits at the dealers before it sold. The constant deaths a battery goes through and recharging shorten the life.
I believe the AC/Delco 86-6YR battery is 590 CCA. That sounds kind of low but I guess you don't need a lot of CCA when you have the gear reduction starter.
Sounds about right to me. But, if you don't have any problems yet, why change it? Unless you happen to just want to be on the safe side. My '06 hasn't given me any problems, I got it in "05. My '03 Yukon hasn't failed me yet, I got it in '02. Never seen a battery tender or needed to be jumped. It's got alittle over 21k on it.
Batteries and anything electrical, can fail from the moment you put it in. Just my opinion.
Thanks guys. I will get that battery but just might ride this one out for awhile. It's been good. My C6 was an ordered car so it didn't sit anywhere very long. Thanks again.
