My ebon beauty is a virgin no longer after being deflowered by a large road gator. This was one of the stealth ones that blend in so nicely with gray asphalt. Large sucker too - looks like it came off of a pretty large truck. Just sunning itself in the road right out of a curve.
No time really to avoid it or even to brake. Country road - no shoulders, ditch on the either side. Nothing to do but suck it up and run over. Nowhere to stop and check the damage either - which I sure would have liked to do since seeing parts fly off the car make me nervous. Since the car was handling ok, drove home. Wasn't as bad as I thought - driver side front air dam gone, part of the brake duct gone, scuffing on the bumper, some very minor dings at the front wheel well, big scratches along the rocker panel - that's the worst that I can see. No tire or wheel damage as far as I can tell. Glad I had the mud flaps installed - the driver one had some good scrapes but seem to deflect the gator some. So off to the body shop tomorrow to get an estimate. Hoping that the cosmetic stuff is repairable with some wet sanding or buffing.
You should have done that mod that Jay Leno did to his Z06.......He added hydraulic lift to avoid bottoming out on speed bumps, sharp angled drives, etc. Just hit that button and go over the top.
That sucks, but good to see you kept your composure and didn't swerve off into the ditch.
I clipped a deer's hooves and did a similar amount of damage. Drivers air dam section, brake duct, and wheel well liner cost about $130 altogether, so it wasn't too bad. Hopefully your repairs won't be much more.

I hope so...nowhere near the damage my C5 had when deer decided to get up close and personal with the rear quarter panel. I was sort of lucky that day...slowed in time to avoid the first one. Unfortunately the only sign of the other one (which I had a feeling was there) was the bang when it hit the car and the wump as it swung sideways against the door. All I saw was this big deer butt in my window.
Sorry to hear about your road kill. I had a truck throw a tire right next to me on the freeway during rush-hour traffic. Absolutely nowhere to go. Creased the heck out of the front fender and passenger-side door so bad that I couldn't open the door. Luckily, it wasn't the Vette that took the hit, rather a DD.
